One of my most favorite things in Dallas is the Sixth Floor Exhibit at the Texas School Book Depository - I don't know if you were born when Kennedy was shot, but I was in elementary school & found the whole exhibit very interesting. Also the West End area is filled with shops(which M.J. might like) as well as lots of restaurants & bars. Lovers Lane is also another nice area for shopping. If you are looking for a place to just walk around, the SMU campus is very nice. Enjoy your trip - next time plan on a few days in Austin (I know where you can get a private tour guide!!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />)
Gotta Caribbean soul I can barely control and some Texas hidden here in my heart...(J.B.)

Drive the half hour and go to the stock yards in Ft Worth. Have a beer at Billy Bobs and feel what the wild west was all about:)

Other things to consider would be: Tour the George Bush Presidential Library on the SMU Campus See the new Perot Science museum Drive through the Dallas arts district Visit the newly renovated Reunion tower observation deck Visit the Dallas Arboretum All of the above are in or "relatively" close to downtown Dallas.
Whatever you decide to do, have a great time.
