A guy who was shopping at the Market Garden Supermarket was robbed and shot by a thief. They stole the bike and shot the rider at the parking infront of the supermarket door.

Very much so. I just talked to Junior (today is his birthday and we have spoken every year on his birthday for 28 years) and he is concerned with all the residents being abruptly put out of work. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come.

Holy snap ... we just checked out of the Commodore Suites above this place less than two weeks ago. I may be mistaken, but during the market's normal operating hours (until 10 p.m. each night) they had a security guard at the front doors so something definitely broke down here. I suppose robberies and senseless acts like this could escalate as more and more people are furloughed from their jobs on the island. What a shame.

Sadly, security is only a mild deterrent as they are not armed. It is just a body in a uniform and for someone on a mission to do this, it means nothing.

It is just the beginning. People out of work with no savings will get desperate. I hope SXM does not let prisoners out of jail like some States in the US are doing.

Oh my. It seems this violence is more on the Dutch side. The driftwood shooting, /platinum event, the jewelry store andnow this at the grocery. We go to all these ares.

What is up. Riots/roadblocks French side, violence on the Dutch side at main attractions.

Am I right, prove me wrong.

I'm afraid there will be more of this with the current shutdown situation.

Elaine--thanks for confirmation from a reliable source. I'm surprised the story is not in the Daily Herald yet, but figure it will be later.

This man was on a scooter weaving in and out of traffic last Wed Mar.18 by the Simpson Bay Bridge. We saw him going against traffic and doing wheelies on our way to the airport. We made the comment he was up to no good as he was coming up along cars.

A facial recognition needs to be done. I hope they did not catch the wrong person!
