Personally, I would just deal with getting off the island and to JFK.

Get to your final destination later.

Surprised it was even available to be booked for May 2 to begin with.

beachy--glad you were able to book. US State Dept has now issued a 'do not travel' advice worldwide, and advises all Americans to return home. Crazy times.

Off topic I know but......

We are/were scheduled to come home to JFK on JB on 4/30 on a non-refundable ticket but got an email today saying our flight was cancelled and we were rebooked on a flight two days later. Not acceptable since we probably won’t be there but the options for canceling the new reservation don’t give me an option to cancel for a full refund to my credit card. I’m assuming JB has to refund in like kind to the manner the tickets were purchased, and I really don’t want a big travel bank credit. AA told me they refund payment in full when they cancel the flight as in this situation but they didn’t say if it was law or policy and I didn’t think to ask. Does anyone know JB’s actual policy on this?

Respectfully,

pat

I just went through the process of canceling online my wife's 3/21 flight and there is no option to get anything but a travel bank credit. I looked at all the FAQ's and they all said travel bank, which for the small sum I was dealing with was not worth anymore trouble. I did not talk to an agent about it.

On the other hand, I also cancelled newer reservations with Delta and was immediately refunded the money to the card that was used to purchase the tickets.

Pat, Travel Agent on Trip Advisor says JB has to give full refund (not credit), if they cancel. She said stand your ground.

Thanks, Ellen. I’m thinking the biggest issue will be in getting through to them on the telephone rather than cancelling on line or via email. We’ll see what happens and in the end, it is what it is.

You can book this flight online via their app. I just tried. Shouldn’t be an issue to book it. Worry about credits once the drama dies down. If your not flying within the next few weeks just leave all as is and let the airlines figure it out.
