Just back from a week on JVD and St. John and as usual had a great time at both. Stopped in at Woody's to see what it was like since the brothers from Clinton, MO sold the place. Happy to report that the same Happy Hour specials are still in place and the service was prompt and came with a smile. It did not seem to have the same energy but that very well could have been more due to the time of year. My wife and I were having breakfast at JJ's Texas Cafe last Wednesday morning and we noticed a few people, including one of the brothers that previously owned Woody's, discussing various plans for a remodel. Our waitress confirmed that one of the brothers had purchased JJ's and construction is to begin very soon on a new bar restaurant. I know that the other brother is opening a bar in Clinton, MO called "Grafitti's" but I was glad to see that the other one is staying on St. John to open a new place. I look forward to seeing the finished product when we go back in February.

I had heard that JJ's was the next adventure for the Missouri Boys, but I am curious which one stayed and which one went back stateside.

Very interesting. Sell your successful business then buy a competing business a few doors away? Wow. Guess they didn't have a non-compete clause. I can soon see the crowd shifting to the park.

As long as they have breakfast burritos, I am there! JJ's was our pre-ferry treat on the last day of the trip each year.

Todd is renovating JJ's and staying in St. John and Chad moved back to their hometown of Clinton, MO and is opening a bar there.

That would have been my guess.
Well he has a great location and there is no doubt he knows the ins and outs of running a business on STJ.
Any guess when the doors to JJs (or new name place) will reopen?

Last night the entire front of old JJ's was wrapped in black plastic. I guess they are either working on it or putting it in the trash. LOL

And as an update: the work is progressing on Cafe Roma. Windows are going in, looks like it is just some finish work inside. Lots of places closed or closing. La Tapa had their last night until November, Zozo's is completely gone. Morgan's Mango will be open for the duration. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Zozo's is moving into Caneel. Will be at the old Equator location I believe. Up the hill in the mill. Should open October/November. Haven't heard what is going in at Gallows. Any rumors?

Yes, the old Equator space. I guess I should have quizzed our bartender a bit more about who, what, and where... We were mainly asking who was still open for dinner. This is the second year we've gone over on the night lots of folks were closing.
