Yes, HB is on the "beach", if you can call it that, but you can't safely access the water there. It's still a very nice place to hang out and spend the day. There's sun, shade, and excellent drink service. The sister resorts on each side have good water access (not c/o).

If you Google map search for ElDorado Seaside Suites, it will drop a pin at Hidden Beach's sister resort, immediately south of HBR. HBR does not show up on the aerial imagery as it appears to be out of date. Drop your street view icon on the north end of ElDorado's beach, and walk south, toward the wooden fence. You'll be walking on HBR's beach, surrounded by naked people and security guards....

Unfortunately, the past 2 years we've gone (in March), the beach has had lots and lots of seaweed - a problem all over the area. HB does a very good job of trying to keep the beach area clean, but you really can't swim in the ocean there. The beach is narrow with a row of very nice palapas and another row of chairs. Most people sit around the pool.

Sorry, that's totally out of date (the Streetview imagery is dated 2014). The beach has washed away, right up to the stone wall fronting the beach.

We were there a year ago, and there was a lot of seaweed, and an army of guys with rakes and wheelbarrows trying to clear it (as it tends to smell). The ocean in front of HBR isn't swimmable.

That's not the beach, that's a narrow strip of the resort with sand spread on it! You're right that most people stay around the pool, as there's very little sun elsewhere due to the mature trees shading everything. There aren't enough sun loungers either, which is why people get up at 6am to put towels down.

Hi MommaKat. Been awhile since I have been here. We are on Maui right now. Did today at Little Beach ( momma is resting) but most days on our special Secret Beach, easy to get to and only 6 mins drive from our pad. Fully C/O. So, I have it from friends recently that there has been no Sargassum showing up on the Yucatan peninsula, our friends are in Playa Del Carmen which is not far from Hidden Beach Resort. Thinking of a trip to SXM this fall but not sure.
Wishing you the best.

If you're there (SXM) in November, you should see us there. Not sure of our dates yet. Best to you and Mrs. CD! Have corresponded a bit with the Bug and he let me know the good news about the seaweed in Mexico.

In our circles it's 2 degrees of separation, sometimes less. Met Bug and Pat a few years ago, quite a character (mildly saying). They were kind enough to take us up to HB on several occasions for day visits. Be well.
