We're going to be land based for about 6-7 days while we wait for Tortuga to be outfitted on Tortola in mid-March.

We've never been to St John and wondered about taking a day trip, getting there as early as possible and returning as late as possible so we can see as much of the island as we can. A little bit to just check it out and a little bit to scout out anchorages for future sailing trips.

Any suggestions for how to do this? Ferry? Water Taxi? Is there anything that runs back and forth on a regular basis? We're going to be staying not far from West End Tortola.

Thanks for any guidance.
Dave

Out of the West End ferry, you take a ferry to Red Hook, clear customs and board the St. John ferry. We did it recently and took an 8am ferry to Red Hook and a 9am ferry to St. John. Believe we left St. John around 4pm and Red Hook at 5pm.

Of course water taxi is an option, just costs more.
