This is new to me. I didn't know about it before the article in The Daily Herald.

Nice ... thanks for the info. Will definitely check this out in March at our next visit. Having a good master brewer means everything regarding the different stouts, IPA's, etc. Hope we can find this around Orient Beach. I usually stick with Corona, but I'd very much like to give the local craftsmen the business and try their new offerings.

Being a beer snob from the Pacific NW, some of the island made beers were drinkable in limited quantity but not in my wheel house. At Dingy they had a Session on tap that was pretty damn good, I think they are having it made in Florida and brought down and he has a lot of choices in bottles and cans. Yes it can be a bit expensive, but if you want a decent beer it is what it is and I for one am willing to pony up. He has a deal if you buy say 4 or 6, can't remember.

We bought 2 of them at the little market near Piazza Pascal in Grand Case. I like German lager style beers and the 2 I tried weren't something I liked much. I noticed a billboard advertising the brewery's tasting room, so apparently you can visit to see the operation and try the beers. I think I read it's located in the Point Blanche area.

Over the last 2-3 years the islands beer has improved dramatically. From what the grocery stores offer, the craft beer selections and even what restaurants are offering. I prefer IPA beer and had come accustomed to going to Dinghy Dock primarily to find a beer to enjoy. But things have changed for the better. You do have to pay more but it is well worth it if you don’t enjoy the usual island beer options. What I have found is the colder the better and the Blonde Beer from Pelikaan Brewery is real good when you get ice cold. And generally what you pay in the grocery store in SXM is equivalent to what I pay when I go out to a restaurant in the states.

Is the Dinghy Dock open? We met the American owner years ago, when our flight from Grand Case to St Barts was grounded and we had to take the ferry. Is he still the owner? Real nice guy. Even let us use his cell phone to call our villa in St Barts.

The Dinghy Dock being referred to is in Simpson Bay. Not sure if it is the same owner when it was located elsewhere or not.

Ok ...finally got around to trying two of the "Proudly made in St. Maarten" beers. Bottles are a tad over 8 ounces (250cc's)

....the Dutch Blond isn't bad...wouldn't be my go to beer but not bad.

...the "Premium Beer" called "San Martin" is not that good at all. It has an unappealing taste and it will be a task to drink the 6 pack. Also comes in a VERY flimsy six pack container....be careful.

Your taste may vary

I'm not a beer kinda guy, but I've tried a few over the years. OH man what were some of these brewers thinking!!! So far the jury is out on this one. I'm NOT running out for this cold one. If DD has it, I'll try it.

At DD try their Session on tap, pretty easy drinking.

There is also Pelikaan.

Had that at Lagoonies. DD doesn't carry it.
