1118pm local SXM and AA2478 just landed.
I suppose that means some unhappy campers coming and going.
I guess id be happy to be here but getting a rental and driving around island and checking in and being hungry and looking for Carib.
The going home version is scheduled for 1030 tomorrow.

Had some people staying with me and their flight was delayed till 10:30 today. They never got a full story on why the plane was so delayed.

Delayed in CLT until 6:36pm yesterday but I could not find the reason for the delay. I am guessing mechanical?
Currently scheduled to depart SXM for CLT at 11:00am today.

A real PITA for the incoming pax for sure. I actually kind of doubt the rental guys were still there at the airport? We got in way late one time a long time ago and had to take a cab to our hotel and get the car the next day. I have to assume they stocked up on lovely airport food in Charlotte.
fritzks--when did your guests know they were delayed till today? Did they go and sit in the airport for hours and hours for nothing?

Yep, got in late one time, 11 years ago I think, after being re-routed via MIA. Not a fun thing but it was our only option to get out of DAY due to weather and a cancelled flight.

Our friends flew into Charlotte from West Virginia & sat on one plane for awhile then got off and onto another. Their car rental guy was there for them. Not sure which one. They did have a bit of problem doing the detour getting to orient village. Detour signage not great & dark on top of that. But after a bit they found their way. Rental unit person met them as well. Long day for them.

When we were on the island in Nov. there was a detour in the French Quarter/Orleans area, perhaps that? Otherwise, I would think possibly Sandy Ground as there are supposedly partial blockages of the road still there.

OK, could be. If I were coming from the airport to Grand Case, I would go over the Causeway, especially at night, but I guess they could have gone through Orleans.

Actually my friends were going from airport at midnight to Orient & going through Orleans is the only way they know. Signage not great after the original detour turn & very dark. They were ok.

Yes, the detour (if the same one we encountered in Nov.) is a little confusing.
