Not sure if this will impact any SXM flights but since United has the Max 8 in their fleet, it will cause more schedule juggling.

I hope AA further delays their Max 8 flights, so we won't be on it.

Carol,

Don’t know if this helps you at all, but when I changed our AA April flight the CSR I spoke with indicated they were cancelling ALL Max 8 flights. At the time I took that to mean thru April but perhaps you want to check with them. She also indicated they would rather make flight changes early than waiting to the last minute and not having seats/flights available. It can’t hurt to try and I have to say, the rep I spoke with couldn’t have been any more pleasant or accommodating and ultimately we ended up flying from our preferred nearest airport (assuming n/s flights aren’t available for our dates....) and we are both flying for less than the price of one ticket at the current rate.

Respectfully,

pat

Doesn't really help me, because I checked the other day and our flight was still scheduled on a Max 8, and there was NO other option from Miami. The Miami flight is still scheduled for the Max 8. I frankly would prefer to ditch AA and go to Jet Blue but Eric doesn't want to.

Hi Carol,

Do not count on ANY reservation made on a Boeing MAX 8 for the foreseeable future...

Aviation Week And Space Technology magazine, a respected aviation rag focused on aviation safety among other air and space news, just reported that Boeing’s 737max8 is facing a long road to returning to service.

It also reported that United just ordered a number of Airbus alternatives to the Boeing jet.

IMHO I suspect some airlines are scheduling on hope instead of probability.

Bill-that's fine with me. I know that AA HAS to have service from Miami, and so they will run the route regardless. Just hoping they go ahead and ditch Max 8 for my trip in May, going into June and sub with another plane.

For some years now the United flights out of Newark on Sundays have always been 737-700 so the max 8 issue won't affect them.

Not sure that is true. The flights from Miami on AA have always been 737s and AA is supposed to be switching to the Max 8s on the Miami route.
