I'll be keeping a close eye on this as we stop in SXM on a cruise in a couple of weeks. SXM is one of our favorite Caribbean land vacations and we are sailing with "first timers" to the island. Our usual plan is to head straight to Orient Beach and let sand gravity take over (for a few hours at least!). I have personally been caught up in one of these road blocks back in 2015 while on a cruise... I posted about the ordeal, which was pretty awful and I definitely don't want to repeat the experience! I don't love Phillipsburg, but suppose if things are still iffy... we will just hang close to the port.

Yes, I definitely would keep close track of the situation. It's tough when you're on a cruise, to take ANY kind of a risk.
