Looking for some feedback. The prices on JB have been out of sight the last few months for the weeks we go to SXM. (mid March to April) Last night, noticed that if we go in on a Thursday vs the Saturday the price is less than half what we would be paying on Saturday...so we booked it. Now looking at some ''cheaper'' accomodations for two nights before we go home to RILP. Doing a search, i came across Commodore Suites, which is located right above the Market Garden in the heart of Simpson Bay. Pictures of the place look pretty good...and don't ever recall anyone ever mentioning them before here on the forum. Has anyone stayed here? or have heard anything about it?? I also looked into Mary's Boon but for the cheap they had a ''basement'' studio with no view or anything...don't even know if it has a window or not...so not considering it.....Prices at Horny Toad were much higher....El Zafirro is a minimum of three nights.....etc. Thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance

We stayed at Simpson Bay Suites on Billy Folley Road across from Market Garden, a few years ago when they were new, I don't know how they are now, but they were reasonable.

We have stayed at Mary’s Boon many times and love it. I’ve stayed in their lower rooms and never had a problem with them. Very large room with a high ceiling and window. I understand they’ve recently been updated with 50 inch TVs if that matters. It is their most budget room and fine for a few nights. Their other rooms are very lovely and worth the extra price if you can get one but they book up very fast. Rates I think are good compared to others nowadays. . Stayed at horney toad and El ziffro too. Both a bit to sleepy for us but neither really compared to Mary’s Boon great staff and the extra amenities they offer the other two don’t. Commodore suites never stayed there but this since they are in newer probably are fine too just not a great location no beach etc.

I considered it last year but ended up not having to go that route. A couple of concerns I had was parking and if the elevator was working. I was told it was but when I was on the island I do not believe it was working. I suppose for a few nights to save some $$, it would be a possibility. I just looked at it for some friends and I think it was around $90/night plus fees and taxes.
Horny Toad has good low season rates but high season is another story.

I would definitely opt for Mary's Boon also, even if in one of the lower rooms, for just a couple of nights, versus someplace not on the beach. MB also has a small pool and the restaurant, as well as a lovely beach. To me, it would be a no brainer. Commodore Suites would have no view from the room either, I wouldn't think. And when you walk out, you would be walking out to concrete. At MB, you'd be walking out to a beautiful ocean view.
