Anyone know what caused two AA aircraft to spend the night on the island? Bad weather up north?

The morning AA flight to Miami used the overnight in SXM but not sure if that flight has been reinstated yet which could explain one.

Could one or both be new planes being brought up from Brazil?
Were they regional size aircraft?

There was an arrival from CLT and PHL, but it doesn’t appear there were scheduled departures. Both of today’s departures are scheduled on the planes that arrived yesterday.

I haven’t taken a close look but they are 737’s or 757’s.

I don't know, I guess eventually they are just going to do the two flights from Miami two hours apart, which seems stupid to me. I haven't looked again at next May, but my flight was cancelled, and they are just going with the one MAX flight as of May next year. Haven't looked at it lately, to see if they are going back to two flights from Miami at some point.

We have taken that flight many times in the past but now usually go through CLT going and returning.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the previous post where an American plane aborted take off mid way through. A mechanical issue perhaps?
