Well, we just took our last dip in the pool, with a last drink before heading out. , have our stuff 99% packed up, will be headed out to the airport here shortly. Great trip, can't beat being here at Beachside Villas. I was going to post a whole report about just BSV, but won't have time before we leave. Will do that when we get home. In the meantime, there are some pictures in the SXM photo gallery forum.

Carol, my wife says your hubbie has a very kind looking face and doesn't change at all in all the photos you take. Don't fancy him myself(well you know what I mean) but agree with her. :-))))))))))))))

Thanks everyone!! We're here at Taloula Mango at the airport. Probably 35 minutes from when we arrived until here. Eric's in line for a burger.. We got some sandwiches for later, but needed a bite for the meantime...
It's all good, but glad to go home.

ok -- burger joint, dominoes, panini place(bacchus) and two other cold misc stops and one bar --- guess where we are?
Carol is going to try to take pixs, the selection is what it is..... also airport food and prices!!! But we ARE AT THE AIRPORT!!! Duh!
Reasonable siting space. But do not count on that on a Saturday --- if six planes in then.... do not want to go there.

We ate at Johney Burger and thought they were pretty good burgers, and i don't remember the price being too crazy. They have unique burgers named after different parts of the island. Anyway, Safe travels!

Hi Carol, Did you ever make your way up to the old Coco Beach area? Was wondering about the progress of the new restaurant/bar. Thank you!

Carol, it looks like you were posting from the airport. Is there WiFi there now?

SXMbeacher--Don't remember the type of burger we got, but it was very good. $15 for one burger, which we split and $2 for some (terrible) potato chips.
freedomfighter--No, sorry, we did not go by Coco Beach.
Georgia--There was supposed to be airport wide wifi 'soon', but it hasn't happened. But you can get free wifi if you eat at Domino's or drink at Taloula Mango, which is still the only bar in the airport.
Oh, and I was too lazy to take pictures at the airport, sorry.

Good to know. We're usually sitting at the bar while we wait for our flight anyway. In December, no one had WiFi, and we really could have used it given our flight fiasco.

Speaking of which, we were talking to the bartender about the AA deal last week, where the Miami flight was delayed 7 hours. Despite ME knowing by 4 PM that they weren't going to be leaving until at least 10:45 PM, apparently AA officials in the terminal kept telling the pax they would have another update in 45 minutes, and never told them early on it was going to be a long delay. I asked if that type of thing is only AA and she said all airlines do the same in SXM, never let pax know what is really going on. She said instead of giving vouchers, they brought in pizzas and water. I don't understand why someone on wifi there couldn't tell what was going on though, for themselves. She said some people did get confirmed flights for the next day though.

Exactly. When our December flight was delayed by over six hours, we were told every hour that it would be an hour later. It wasn't until a passenger who had cell service told us that the plane had finally left Miami that we actually had accurate information. We did get vouchers in the airport, but it wasn't announced. It wasn't until I saw someone with one that I knew to go ask for them at the desk. BTW, they're supposed to be for food only, not alcohol, but the bar allowed us to use them for wine.

When you have that delayed flight stress alcohol is always better than food.

That's just wrong, to not let people know what's going on. But the bartender said that all the airlines in SXM do the same. That's wrong. I'm not sure how long there has been any wifi anywhere at the airport, but I know that Taloula Mango had it in June this year also. The bartender said that she had a banner day, with that AA flight last week, but she was dead dog tired by the time she closed up..

Carol.......another alternative at the airport is Johny Burger.... They make a very tasty good sized hamburger...and a ''more reasonable'' price than the others....and I am pretty sure they had french fries also!!! It is owned by the same gal that owns and runs Nowhere Special.

Ed,
Nowhere Special - is that the Wathey family or someone closely connected to them? And I have no clue why I’m thinking that but perhaps I read it somewhere?

The old Turtle Pier, Toloula Mango, Kangaroo Court, Emilio's, all the same family or relatives.

Ed--Johny Burger is where we ate. I thought I said that earlier, but maybe not. Regardless, the burger was good. Taloula Mango serves no food at all, just alcohol. I had Eric get carry out from Johny Burger and we ate it at the bar.
