My wife and I have land based vacationed in the BVIs once before, but we are doing our first charter with another couple in a few months.
Are there any marinas or mooring locations that have decent showers? We are not too picky...but clean and hot would be a wonderful treat from the boat showers!

Don’t know if Peter Island Resort is back up and running but they had beautiful very large marina showers. It was like an outdoor shower (rock & stone wallls) but with privacy.

most boats have better showers than you will get ashore.

Scrub Island has some nice bathrooms and showers, they were great at the end of our trip a few months ago. Strong water pressure and nice and hot!

Peter Island is still closed and under construction.

Nanny Cay marina has a nice shower facilities. Leverick Bay marina showers are basic but OK.

Back of the boat?

Scrub and Nanny Cay (high end resort vibe vs outdoor restaurant/Tiki Bar beach vibe) but either way you'll pay for a slip. BaardJ is right about Leverick, it's ok and serves the purpose.

Penns Landing has great showers and the great Red Rock Restaurant at the end of the dock or mooring balls if you prefer. Excellent provisioning including a veggie stand by dingy or a short walk.

Cleanliness of one's charter boat showers is largely up to < guess who>. How much water needed for a shower is also up to the same < guess who>, but I've never been on a charter boat that had no hot water. I've showered at Marina Cay, at Leverick, at Conch Base, Fat Hog's Bay and first 2 charters ever, at Red Hook, but frankly, I'd rather stay on the boat where my clothes, towels and toiletries reside than schlep from Boat to Bath House and back. YMMV.

Thanks everyone! We are very cool with doing almost all the showering on board. I just think the ladies might enjoy a shower about the midway point of the trip, where they don't have to worry so much about the amount of water they are using!

Watermaker on boats such as Sea Tiger(TTOL Sponsor) and Scuba Doo at TMM. Showers with little to no concern about amount water used. (Less stress on captain)

Not to mention the 80 F* immersion bath off the scoop and the hot water rinse coming back onboard. Far as I'm concerned, that is just as good as a spa day.

Don’t forget that you can also top off water tanks at a couple of places too!

Spend a night or two on the dock and you won't have to worry about water use either. Just top off.

Baard's boat Cuvee has nicer showers than most of the marinas. It also has a large watermaker so you can use them. :-)

My personal boat has a big water maker I take two showers a day when I am working. All of our cats and CYOA have watermakers, several of the mono's do. Showers should not be optional on vacation.

And I was thinking I was on "vacation" so boring stuff like showers would be optional.

In my opinion, the best shower during any BVI charter is the one taken mid-charter, on the boat, at a dock, with lavish use of hot water..... right before refilling the water tanks and getting the Hell away from the dock and back to sailing, mooring or anchor- totally decadent.

Best shower is taken after diving or snorkeling is on board with water created by the onboard water maker and heated by engine or generator.

Better than chocolate.

I shower most every day on the boat. I always take a sailors shower. Water is still a commodity, even on shore.

I can shower in probably a gallon of water. I also put my bathing suit in the shower with me, it gets washed at the same time.

Always take a minimum of 2 showers, one in the morning and another late afternoon

Best showers in my experience are the so-called European method — on the transom with the hand-held shower fixture most charter boats have. Not that I’ve done it that much — just enjoyed watching the Europeans.

Stomp wash we call that. And we introduce newbies to the concept of a navy shower (as op Hollywood shower). Most readily take to it.
