Bare boating first time on motor Cat. Very familiar by center council boating in years past. Weather looks to be tropical wavey next week. Our luck. So far looking to visit leverick, scrub, cane, Foxys do to weather and what's open....When and if sun is out, off to White Bay. Scraping Anegada. Any other suggestions? We love happy hours and beach bars. Not much of a fan of sit downs. Best mooring if weather gets a bit blowey? Thanks

My suggestion is to just monitor it and do whatever you have planned. Both disturbances headed towards us have less than a 40% of developing. They haven't even been assigned invest numbers yet so I wouldn't let it change any plans. Until it get's a name, I would not worry.

On Cane, Pussers and Paradise Club are open. Since you're coming next week, you don't need to plan around any cruise ships. No ships planned next week.

I would not skip Anegada because of weather. On a power cat, you are only 90 minutes at the most from North Sound and Anegada is not to be missed!

Enjoy.

Love Anegada. Just not sure on the wind and wave action getting there. I guess in our briefing they will have an update. What's open over there besides the main resort? Have some fun stories on scooters from that island last year

Kinda new. Very low draft. In my mind perfect to captain yourself with your partner. Love the outboards.

North Sound for best refuge from wind and swell. Get up into Biras for a very sheltered anchorage. I'd be hesitant about using the older moorings, but with a power cat you can scoot far enough in to have good anchoring.

Nice boat...

In Feb I took a 52 power cat down from Anegada in 8 ft waves off my side...wasnt fun but it worked and most importantly my passengers stayed up top so no seasick crew.

I typically set this trip (Leverick to Anegada) on the best weather day...dont skimp n Anegada

I do like the outboards especially as I plan for drive service on my twin I/O's on my own boat...

Just wondering with all the Anegada talk. I too am planning Anegada on my itinerary in mid October. Only made that trip once by myself but been there several times. This year we'll be on a Moorings 514 power cat. I'm less concerned about the trip from Leverick to Anegada but more concerned about Anegada to Jost. Last year I did my best to plan around the weather but only so much you can do. At some point, unless it's obviously looking bad, you have to make a decision. Once you're there is my biggest fear since things seem to happen fast. I had fairly good weather last time but some of the swells and dark clouds in the distance gave my nerves a test on the open ocean no turning back portion to Jost. Bad weather is pretty subjective I think if you are me compared to some seasoned salt. If it's questionable for my own comfort, would all of you suggest going for Jost and suck it up or is back to Virgin Gorda and taking the round about trek to Jost a better option? Hate to see the fuel bill but what's the quickest reasonable time on a 514 if I push it to go from Anegada to Jost?

Schwendy-

I have done Anegada/Jost several times on the 514PC...you will be fine. Last October was the calmest I have ever seen the ocean down there. If it looks to be bumpy and I have "unseasoned" crew I wont go straight. From Anegada I head south and go along the VG coast and then head West through the Beef Island/Guana channel as the alternate that you suggest. You cold also come down to the West side of Great Caminoe. My guess would be that it takes 20 minutes longer. I think the direct route is 33 miles. The 514PC tops out around 22-24 MPH so you can get wherever you want pretty quickly.

Your fuel bill will be 900 - 1100...it sucks but not as bad as the Steelers last Sunday

Let me know when you at Soggy Dollar

Hope you have a great trip

Schwendy, don’t worry about the weather just follow the weather forecast and do your trip. Remember your not out in the middle of the ocean you’re only an hour or so from land.
If a storm brews up just go to any dock and tie up. The charter company will advise you.
If a hurricane happens to come through then check into a hotel or fly back back home before it arrives.

Thanks! I'll be at Soggy on Thurs. Oct. 24th if all goes as planned. If I have something to write on I'll plan a time and hold up a sign in front of the web cam!

[it sucks but not as bad as the Steelers last Sunday[/quote]

Based on last nights game if I had to bet on a game between the Steelers and the Panthers, I would take the Steelers. We suck!
