Nestled between a few of the other Puerto Cupecoy marina restaurants, Altro awaits to offer a $28 summer prix fix.
Seating can be outside or alfresco with a cool breeze floating off the water.
Service was provided by two young, freindly French servers.
Frozen mojitos were served in very large brandy snifters and i did notice extremely large wine pours.
Appetizers choices included mahi mahi ceviche which was fresh with nice citrus accents
Sauteed calamari with potatoes
Crabcake with spicy slaw
the traditional mozzerella and tomatoes
and roasted eggplant and hummus as a vegetarian option
Entrees included a wonderful scallop, shrimp and fish pot in a creamy sauce
My dining companion enjoyed her lamb over coucous, the lamb was off the bone and confit, definitely different but enjoyed the same
Other entrees available included mushroom risotto
duck sheppards pie
and a pasta dish with roasted vegetables and pesto.
The enjoyment continued with the desserts.
A mango tiramisui and a rich dulce de leche were cleaned up with finger swips to get the last taste.
Panna cotta, coconut / chocolate mousse and fresh fruit medley with basil cream rounded out the finale endings.
Courses are appropiate size considering the costs but did not leave hungry.
A great meal for less than $100.00
Be sure to thank the chef and assistants in the open kitchen, i'm sure thay will appreciate the acklowledgement

Good to hear you had a great meal. Just after Irma we ate there when Christopher and Bridget (former owners of Sol e Luna) owned Altro. We had such a delicious, delightful meal fixed prix that we couldn't wait to return on next visit. By then the restaurant had been sold to the people who also own La Main et Pate at Marina Royal Marigot. We had the worst meal of that entire trip. Too many details to reiterate but I posted about it last year. We did not add this place to our list for March 2020 but after reading your report perhaps we will.

I wonder if this restaurant has sold again or if they have a new chef?

I enjoy reading your reports. You must be a "foodie".

Have you tried Frenchy Ludo's and Moulin Fou?

Frenchy Ludos was on the hit list but closed for vacation.
Moulin Fou once, nice presentation and service, but not enough for a return visit.
Born and raised above my family's restaurant and bar, worked in high end restaurants for 30 some years.
Now have a catering company and food is my life.
I am not on vacation in Sxm, but doing food research and finding new mojitos recipes.

In past experiences, Moulin Fou was decent but very disappointed in Frenchy Ludos. Many have had good meals at both but I would not return to Frenchy Ludos.

Altro prix fix sounds nice. Sounds like a good deal also. And that area is pretty at night.

Frozen Mojito 😋 sounds yummy

Not to talk Anguilla but got to say Straw Hat makes a great mojito.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's one of my favorite restaurants, and I was disappointed to have read a few poor reviews recently. I've had nothing but excellent meals and service there.

Wife took two first time visitors we met to Anguilla for the day being afraid they may not find their way around.
The ocean was bath water days before but that day had very large swells.
Pool hopped at the Frangapani resort where Straw Hat is.
The resort is closed for vacation.
Security guard couldn't have been nicer offering use of bathrooms and showing them another pool.
That resort is freaking beautiful on Meads Bay.
We have stayed at the more economical Turtle's nest and enjoyed the catering services of Chef Joseph Hodge formerly of Cap Jaluca.
Maybe one of the best lobster dishes ever enjoyed. Lobster with a mango sauce.

I will check out Turtle's Nest.
I normally do a day trip each time.

Freaking beautiful is a good way to describe the view of Meads Bay from Straw Hat.
I love SXM but I don't think any thing compares to this view of Meads Bay.
It's just divine.

fwiw, had a meal there in June and it was terrible. Also when in Anguilla, Elodia's for Rum punch and a stunning BBC.
