There is a LaQuinta on Sloan Dr. that is fairly close (10 minutes) and I know AA puts people up there if they are delayed. We have stayed at this hotel in the past and it is has always been decent. There is also a Holiday Inn Express in the same vicinity.

Where is a good, relatively inexpensive hotel one can stay at if overnighting in Charlotte? We have driven to Charlotte several times to take a flight to SXM. We did the Park, Sleep and Fly and there are several hotels within 5 to 10 minutes from the airport and they have shuttle service. There is a Quality Inn and Suites about 2.0 miles away, Wingate by Wyndham is about 1.5 miles away and the Microtell Inn is about 2.0 miles away. We used the Microtel Inn and there were not a lot of food choices near by.

I always rate a place to stay based on their shittles! They will never let you down! LOL Wondering how you were able to type shittles as twice autocorrect changed mine to shuttles. Sorry, but it made me laugh.

We've also frequently driven to Charlotte for early morning flights, and agree that there are not a lot of food options around the hotels which are convenient to the airport. Kind of an odd phenomenon, in my opinion.

There's a very nice Holiday Inn Express right off I-85 with a good airport shuttle that I can recommend. Plus, HI Express has a great breakfast buffet if you don't have to leave too early in the morning for your flight. There hot cinnamon rolls are legendary! Also, the prices here are reasonable IMO.
