We're flying Anegada to St Thomas ,St Thomas to US. Does anyone know the arrival / departure routine in St Thomas?

You will have to clear customs on arrival then go through customs again to depart. AA requires three hours before departure for check in and baggage. You can avoid this by checking in on line. STT is not consistent as far as the time to get through customs and security. I have walked through in 15 minutes and waited more than an hour. I plan for 1.5 hours. The airport sucks. Little or no food options.

The old café/bar is open again and there was quite a variety of hot food, sandwiches and salads in June.

I have flown out of STT many times the last few years. The longest I've had to wait in the customs + security line has been around 45 minutes and that was 7 weeks after Irma when the airport was operating on duct tape. Other than Irma I think the most I've spent in line has been 30 minutes. I've seen much much worse security time waits in other US airports. Early morning RDU comes to mind. ATL for that matter. For me the airport sucks because I'm going home. And that's hardly the airport's fault. Food option is fine - the cafeteria is back open and better than before.

May 2018, spent 45 minutes in line outside just to check a bag. Then long line for AG, then CBP, and then bag scan. Total of about 2 hours in line. Been thru in under 30 minutes before, but you never know. EIS-SJU-states is much easier and this year was cheaper.

Can I ask what airline you're flying and how much you're paying? I'm thinking about doing this next summer and have been unable to determine who's still flying from STT to Anegada and how much it costs.

Thanks so much for your response. Anegada may once again be a possibility.

I haven't used them post-Irma but you also used to be able to book Ace Flight Center for STT-ANG for $500 for the whole plane. It operates as a charter so you have flexibility in timing and you could probably fly as many as 5 passengers.
