Anyone know the timing of the festivities tomorrow for Bastille Day in Marigot? Should we avoid driving through there between 11 and 2? Parades etc? We are staying in Grand Case now and moving to the Dutch side tomorrow.

10:30 Wreath laying
11:00 speeches and toast

Musical entertainment and sporting events throughout the afternoon and evening on the waterfront.

Go the long way via Orient/Philipsburg

Best way to do it! wink

At the Towers we would watch from our balcony. One year the slider locked us out...lol....thank goodness we were well inebriated and calm as we had been drinking Prosecco during the fireworks display.

That's funny, Leona, and we had the same experience one year.

We had just purchased an additional unit that year and it was our first time staying in it. We didn't realize the slider lock on that unit was as sensitive as it was and just the act of shutting the door would causeit to lock. Yikes!!

Thankfully, for us it happened in the middle of the day and there were lots of people around and we were able to get the attention of one of the maintenance men. At first he seemed to think we were just waving to him as an act of friendliness and then he realized our situation. No fireworks and no Proseco but in the end, a generous tip for the maintenance man once he came to our unit and let us in.

Ah, the wide variety of SXM memories - mostly good and a very few not so much, but so many with a touch of humor that we get to look back and laugh at ourselves and the situations.

Respectfully,

pat

We just left Orient Village and it was jam packed. No place to park. It is our understanding that there is a big party on the beach tonight and that there will be fireworks here at midnight.

How embarrassing! Glad it turned out well though.
