We will be on the island in 3 weeks and staying in Orient Village. I have a tendency to overbuy groceries at the bigger stores and wondered if the small grocery store in Orient has enough to meet our needs. We typically eat breakfast and lunch in and dinner out. I like to keep wine, beer and my hubby likes whiskey. I don't mind paying a bit more for convenience of a short walk to the store every few days as needed. Will also be looking to buy sunscreen as we always do carry one only. Thanks!

I think they fit the bill for what your looking for. They have beer, wine, alcohol, and smaller selections of meats, cheeses, eggs, and vegetables. And yes, even sunscreen!

Here is a picture I took in June of some of the liquor selection.

There is a whole different LARGE section of wine, as well as a large selection of frozen foods and good ol American junk food

Yes, you will enjoy shopping there. Their prices aren't that much more than the big grocery stores on the French side. If you had been there before, you will be pleased that they enlarged the size and selection of their groceries. And, they do have fresh veggies and meats. And, right next door you can buy your croissants in the morning or walk to the other end of the block and buy items at Good Morning. We really liked the sandwiches that they made at Good Morning. We bought one almost every morning and split it when we went to the beach.

This is a great, conveniently located market. One day, there were small tubs of guacamole of high quality and moderate price. I did not see them stocked again but one day there were fresh pastries, also very good. Near the cheeses, a refrigerator case also contains vegan, vegetarian servings from a French company which wound up very easy to prepare in a hotel mini kitchen. It was very easy to pay with credit card to best manage the currency exchange.

After the mid June opening, I was not expecting Super U to still offer 1:1 but they did during my entire August stay. Also, there was no problem in receiving change in dollars. It is very large and well stocked in most areas and found them better in quality to Leader Price on most items and close to Petit Casino on some specialty items.

I'm not sure how much longer that Super U will still be offering the 1 to 1, but it was advertised in the Daily Herald today. My hope is that they will still be doing it through our upcoming trip in October.

Dollar is getting stronger vs Euro. Now worth about 90 cents.
