Have only sailed to Bequia but never stayed on land. Anyone recommend a property or villa. We would visit in January 2014. I have my eye on Sugar Reef, Old Fort, Lime Cottage, Bellevue Terrace. I am not too familiar with the best locations. Thanks for any direction or assistance!!

Personally I would stay closer to Port Elizabeth.
Frangipani has some nice units up the hill.
Cheers

We have stayed at Frangipani. It is in a great location but the mosquitoes are horrendous!! We were booked for a week - by the second night we checked out. I was covered in bites - I was itching to the point that I was in tears. My remedy was to drink myself to sleep. Mosquitoes everywhere even while showering! We ended up renting an apartment high up on the hill (sorry I don't remember the name) and it was fantastic! We plan to return one day and we would only stay high on the hills.

Connie: I have always wanted to stay at one of the places at Moon Hole! I think it would be a unique experience! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

very good timing for your question, we are on Bequia right now! We spent the first 4 nights at Tranquility Villa in Moonhole, the villa is awesome, constant breezes, views to die for,a great pool, the cook, Doro is fabulous. She prepared lots of local foods. fresh caught conch, stuffed christophene, home made key lime pie her cooking was a true highlight of our stay there, we never had to leave! The only draw back is that you have about a 5 to 8 minute hike from the parking area to get to the villa, it is all slightly up hill on a stone and concrete path with steps up to the villa at the end. Doro's son carried our heavy bags up the path, we gave him a nice tip for that! I can tell you that we will stay there again! We are now at Tropical Hideaway, Penthouse Suite. This villa also sits high on a hillside with great views and it is about a 5 min. taxi ride to town. This place is very modern and everything is new, an outstanding pool with great sunset views. You can rent the units here separately so you get the advantage of a huge villa at a lower price. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the update. I had received info on Tropical Hideway. How is the standalone cottage? Other people there? THanks!

are you specifically looking for a "villa". If not, we stayed 6 nights at Da Reef Apts in a two bdrm/2bath. Even though it was just my husband and me there was plenty of room if sharing with another couple or single. Grounds are gorgeous (no pool though). Has full kitchen balcony dining and living area. They have smaller units also.

It is literally a minute's walk to Lower Bay Beach where there are lounge rentals, two restaurants, snorkeling from beach etc. We loved it.

here is a good website with various accommodations, unfortunately Da Reef's ad is horrendous and does not do the place justice.

here is a better one

happy searching

There are 2 cottages, 1 is near the entrance just to the right and down a few steps, the other is the most private it is down below and in front of the pool, if you are in the pool you can see the roof of the cottage by looking over the infinity edge. Our friend's are staying in the Infinity room which is very nice and the most convenient to the pool. One other couple arrived yesterday and they are in the cottage below the pool. Just so you are aware the owners live on the level below the Penthouse, the huge steps in the photo lead to their level.
