Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels- B&Bs, small inns- in Victoria or any of the islands in Puget Sound??

Okay, I think we are going to just stick with a few days in Victoria. Are there any highly recommended activities? Thinking of orca watch, just hanging out doing tourist stuff. Do we need to change to CND$ ?

One thing we always go to in Victoria is Butchart Gardens http://www.butchartgardens.com/the-gardens/ nice way to spend an afternoon. There are several Whale Watch boats around but I am not sure which is best.

The CDN$$ is so close and everybody accepts the USD so don't bother exchanging.

On another note, we just booked for our return to sailing in the BVI with a days relaxing in St Thomas in December.

Have fun!

Thanks again! We are also going to Anacortes, so will wave to you as we pass.

While we don't have any orcas or seals here in the Caribbean, the water is nicer if you fall off the boat!

Working on a short trip report, but two quick observations: 1. went on 5 Star Whale Watch (big catamaran) because they seemed more comfortable (i.e. we don't want to be out in cold weather)and saw a huge pod of orca.
2. everyone DID take US$, except for Red Fish Blue Fish. Waited in line for 30 minutes for excellent food, but were told "We don't take foreign currency." I thought it was a political statement, but I enjoyed my salmon and smoked tuna belly anyway!

Puget sound is great. ride the light rail from the airport to downtown, then a short cab to the waterfront where the ferrys dock to go to the islands.

sailn: We did ride the light rail to town and rented a car there. It was about half the cost of renting from the airport! Great ride and easy peasy...
