Headed down on 21 June. Curious how bad the sargassum is and how it will impact our trip. Saw something yesterday about Trellis Bay. We plan to pick up part of our party there once underway, so curious just how bad it is. Not so much worried about the smell as I am access to shore on planned stops and keeping strainers flowing.

I wouldn’t worry, there’s some but not enough as of yet to worry about.
It’s not even close to the way it was a few years back.

I was a little concerned about the sargassum before we left as well. We just got back from a week long charter. Being the sargassum comes from the north I found the northern beaches to be more affected than the southern beaches. We overnighted at marina cay and snorkeled at diamond reef. There was a lot of it there when we snorkeled, but a few hours after it moved south and was clear at diamond reef. At Anegada a lot of sargassum was washed up on Loblolly Beach, but Cow Wreck Beach was clear and stunning. Didn't get a look at Trellis Bay. I would say the sargassum did not affect our trip.

I left the BVI two weeks ago and it was bothersome on Tortola. At Nanny Cay they had a backhoe remove it from the beach each day and were using the marina's dinghies tied to the docks with running engines to create waterflow to get the sargassum moved out (with pretty good success, too). While it hasn't reached the proportions of a couple of years ago, there were many large mats visible when I took off from St. Thomas so it might become a bad year.
