We have stayed there at least 8 times in the past and have so many wonderful memories; does anyone have any idea real or fiction of why the resort won't be rehabbed and opened again?
Thank You, Ron M

It is actually being repaired, but will not return as a hotel. It will be apartments for rent the last time I spoke with the St. Martin Reservation Center. I believe these would be for long term rentals, though I'm not certain. But, Palm Court which is essentially right next door will be coming back soon (possibly next month) so that would be a good alternative. Easy walking distance to Orient Beach.

If true, I'm amazed that they found this to be cost effective. There is no doubt that affordable housing for local workers is needed, but I'm amazed that this can be done at Alamanda. The required numbers make no sense to me.

Stayed at an apartment right next door to Alamanda last month. No repairs were going on whatsoever there. It was boarded up still. I was actually really surprised- such prime property. As mentioned, Palm Court, right across the street- was well into repairs and appeared to be about done.

We've stayed at both properties. Palm Court is across the road and a bit farther back from Alamanda and the beach. When we stayed at Palm Court many of the rooms were privately owned. We enjoyed Alamanda twice and Palm Court once. It was very convenient to stay at an Orient Beach hotel to enjoy the proximity of the beach and restaurants.

Crossing our fingers that Palm Court gets finished on schedule! We’re booked there for July 17-21, with a guaranteed spot at Esmeralda if it’s not ready. We stayed at Palm Court over ten years ago and can’t wait to go back!

They were working on Alamanda when we visited SXM back in March. I know because I actually talked of one of the construction guys. But, maybe they have ceased re-construction efforts for whatever reason. Here is phone number to call in the U.S. if anyone is searching for any updates on this place as well as Palm Court: 1-800-480-8555 (St. Martin Reservation Center). Two years ago we were all set to stay here that November '17 when along came Irma and ended that.
