Based on past experience, if you are not a participant, just a spectator, is this a can’t miss or a good time to be elsewhere?

We have enjoyed spectating...from a mooring ball at a safe distance to the action! And a painkiller or two close at hand...Goes without saying.

Have also crossed their route in the SFD under sail and enjoyed the rascals hooning past at close quarters. With much hooting, hollering and other such joyful acknowledgements of one another.

Just a bit of fun really!

Personally I wouldn't change my itinerary to be near them...or to avoid them. If they're there...then bit of fun. If not...no great loss!

May, pre Irma...Poker Run,,,

We were peacefully moored at Cooper Island, when we heard the big engines of the fast moving thrashers entering Machioneel Bay. Super go fast sleet power boats. From the long ago street and strip drag racing, I
love the sounds of the muscle cars and dragsters......good stuff.

Had no clue as to what was going on, but what we could see the lively bunch were all going ashore to the Beach Club, and we dinked in to join them.

The skippers were not drinking, but everyone else was, and we joined them in celebrating the Leverick Bay, BVI poker run.

Upon approach, they slowed down, and produced no wake.

As to close aboard passes at high speed at sea, producing a wakes, etc, is really not a good plan. We did not see that however .

They came into Cooper, went ashore , got their card, had a drink, and were off to the next stop. Good looking bikini bunnies littered their decks, whats not to like.

Have fun !

Depends on your speed. It's not for me, I avoid it.

Sitting in The Bight in prime position watching all the hooligans flying in at high-speed. Good fun! Soca music at top-volume from all.

VISAR milling about ready to pick up the pieces.

Hard to tell with the inboard engines but the record so far with Outboards is five 400hp. Looks a lot of fun!

Great turnout by the looks of it, Nick will be pleased!

Should a Sunseeker Manhattan 73 be on a mooring ball? Probably not! Oh well.
