Would greatly appreciate hearing the current status of the following;

Fat Virgin Cafe... open or not

Saba Rock Mooring Balls

Bitter End Mooring Balls

Biras Creek Mooring Balls... the one in front of Fat Virgin

Thanks

The latest that we have,

Biter End is not open, the mooring balls have not been maintained,

Saba Rock is not open. ( We really liked Saba . It will be great when they get back up.

We, personally would not , tie up to any of those moorings, but, others may have different ideas.

Vixen point , the Sandbox was supposed to open the first part of may, but we will be checking
again once we get to Conch Charters, they should have the latest updates on
all of the mooring fields.

Leverick has moorings and slips, and if the Sand Box at Vixen Point is up and running, they would also have moorings.

Not sure about Biras Creek, if you are bare boating,

Your chart briefer should have the latest factual info for you.
I doubt they would be approving tying up to non maintained moorings, but check with them.

Fat Virgin is closed. As of 1 month ago, the moorings in Biras Creek appeared to be maintained (looked in good shape as we motored by), there were a few boats tied up, I have no idea who was collecting fees.

Here's an update on BEYC on bvitraveller - https://www.bvitraveller.com/bitter-end-yacht-club-construction/
They were planning on having the mooring field, marina and harbor-front operations operating this spring but looks like it is taking longer than planned.

"Revised Opening Date: From all accounts it looks like the opening of the marina and restaurant have been further delayed until late 2019. According to a February 2019 article in the BVI News, Premier Dr. D. Orlando Smith, while reporting on resorts that are scheduled to reopen in the BVI, stated that the the Virgin Gorda-based Bitter End Resort is currently rebuilding and while the villas will take time to be restored, the marina, restaurant and docks will be opened later this year [2019]."

I thought Biras has been closed since before Irma? In such case I would doubt their moorings have been maintained. That boats are tied up doesn’t mean it’s a safe option.

We were there 2 weeks ago.

A number of balls with boats on them at the Sand Box. Also plenty of room to anchor, which we did. The bar/restaurant looked almost done but no work observed the 4-5 days we were there.

Bitter end had a lot of work going on but still looks like they are clearing stuff. I saw no new construction so late in 2019 is optimistic even for a bar and dock.

Same with Saba but at least new construction going on but nowhere even close to done.

There are sunken boats in biras Creek. Be very careful in there.

I suggest that given the state of change, people post the effective date of their experience.

Feb 2019 bitter end looks cleared of all debris and sandbox still under construction.

Some people are posting based on what others post and not on personal experience. It's risky following them as the information can be out of date.

Warren is right on,

One week from today we will be on the big iron out of LAX , for out two week BVI sailing vacation.

We will log the different anchorages and mooring fields, and slips that we find available, and those places that are not as yet back to pre Irma.

Will post a trip report shortly after returning home about June 2nd..

Hope to help out those who are heading to the BVI from June 2019 on.
