Day 5
Still in Anegada, got up early to go after Bonefish on a flyrod with Danny out on the flats. Family went out to check out the flamingos. He takes off across the flats at top speed so he can clear the coral reef because we want to catch the Bones coming in at low tide. Parks us by a mountain of Conch shells – he calls it Conch Island. After a good morning of fly fishing with my brother we change over to spin rods and land a hard nosed jack, man he was tasty. Now here is where it gets wild…
We all meet up and dhingy back to the boat. We’re about 15 minutes from casting off and two Brits show up in a dink and ask us if we lost a camera. A nice shiny blue one. My sisters start screaming. Remember when I said my brother lost a camera in Eustatia sound snorkeling? They found it! He had taken a picture of the boat and they noticed it on the camera reel. And they run into us 2 days later in Anegada. You cannot make this up! Miraculous. I can’t even calculate the mathematical odds of that one.
A nice broad reach to Scrub Island Marina. We dock the boat for the night and enjoy another delicious meal and Painkillers. It’s a pretty good deal for February TTOL special.
Day 6. We pop across the little channel and grab a yellow mooring. ball and snorkel right across from the marina. Very nice little snorkeling spot. As we’re leaving a dive boat tells us that ball is commercial use only. I was told by Horizon the yellow and blue balls were okay to use for 90 minutes. Can anyone clarify?
We sail around to Monkey point and anchor, another nice little snorkeling spot. Then a nice broad reach to Jost. We find the last ball in White bay and dinghy over to Ivans and watch the sunset. It sets with three bright pink rays coming off, unreal.
Day 6
Up early and sail over to Diamond Cay and grab a mooring ball. Dinghy into Foxy’s Taboo and hike over to the bubbly pool. Our own personal Jacuzzi with tropical fish in it. We motor over to Sandy Spit and drop anchor and relax. We hear excited screaming – a guy proposed to his girl on the island, classy. He had dinghied over from White bay! And the wind was pretty sporty, ahhh youth.
Sailed over to Sopers Hole, a little shopping and provisioning and then to Peter Island. A nice breeze is up with an opportunity to sail close hauled from Frenchman’s Cay to Peter. Boats dialed in and the crew is sharp.
Found the last mooring ball at 5:00 in Great Harbor One last amazing meal on the boat under the stars.
Day 7
A quiet morning breakfast – man my sisters can cook – and a nice broad reach to Nanny Cay. A dolphin rises and escorts us then waves a flipper at me and peels off. We dock the boat and say goodbyes to the family then head over to Trellis Bay on our way over to Srcub Island. I grab a chicken Roti from Jeremy, wow was it good. Great guy chat with him for awhile love his story. Grab the ferry over to Scrub Island for the night. More to come…
