We did an informal unscientific survey of tourists / airline passengers' FAVORITE and LEAST FAVORITE US airlines serving SXM recently. The result: jetBlue was the runaway FAVORITE of all airlines, and American was the LEAST FAVORITE - both by a wide margin. Even first class AA passengers have been complaining about schedule changes and other major issues at AA.
Blue is true so far, and our favorite. But given time all airlines can be a pain. March 2019 was the first time we had any problem with Blue and that was a computer malfunction, they claimed, so we had to wait for a reboot before we could leave SXM. 25 min delay. No big if you have a direct flight.
I agree 100% with this. My opinion is that all airlines are evil, but JetBlue is the least evil. I have no issues with the flight attendants or phone agents of AA, but it's the powers that be that make this airline so horrible.
...and they repeatedly lie to their customers....this post is about a flight that was "cancelled because of weather" which doesn't seem to make sense with no delays or cancellations seen
My return flight from SXM was diverted to MIA because of "lack of fuel availability" even though the SXM ground crew supervisor announced that it was NOT a fuel issue but a flight crew issue...and guess what? After landing in MIA and creating a plane full of hotel vouchers in CLT, the new crew came on and explained about the original crew being over in flight hours and could not fly another hour to CLT.....really? I do understand the crew limitations but just tell it like it is....and why send a crew to SXM knowing it can't return to the correct airport?
I will use AA ONLY because I have a crapload of miles left over from the USAir merger but I would NEVER pay for a flight on AA....

"Evil" is strong in referring to "all airlines" but absolutely correct on AA
Rant over.....and sorry, since all airlines have their issues but............................................................................
Hey, that's what makes this country so great. We all have our opinions. JetBlue was not evil until they started charging for checked bags. That's my humble opinion.
Well, just an opinion, but I think charging for bags is a minor and common issue as compared to absolutely screwing up your vacation flights and plans. It is a known factor when booking and a CHOICE....and is kinda is a given with all airlines except for SWA and CC perks
agreed !!!! JET BLUE even though we have to leave out of JFK ... missing our Continental and United almost daily flights ..unfortunately united is only Saturdays and wayyyyyy out of line with their prices
Here is a survey that came out a few weeks back. This says it all! How embarrassing for AA. Spirit is ahead of them. Surely not surprising from all the horrible experiences I have read on this board with AA.
I suppose it takes all kinds but we have never had a problem with American Airlines. In fact we recently had a hickup when our flight was cancelled immediately after everyone was seated. The Captain came on the speaker and announced that we had been cancelled due to an on-board instrument malfunction. He stated in very professional terms that this had never before happened to him in his 22 years with American. The situation was chaotic of course.....100 or so passangers having to make alternative arrangments. We went to the ticked counter and were treated with the most intellegent and considerate agent we've ever seen. She worked it all out for us with a smile and great patience. Plus 10 for AA.
We actually have also never had a problem with AA. In recent years, we only take the nonstop from Miami, and of course nonstop flights have much fewer possibilities for screwups.
We walked away years ago. flew them for many years, but because they are not reliable we fly jet blue. have not yet had an issue. love this airline. We travel almost 3 hours to jfk for jet blue, we could travel to jersey and united, but they are so over priced just can not do it....Not much of a lesser trip, but better trip. Nope jet blue all the way.
