Our family of six are heading to the BVI for ten days the first part of May. We plan to get to Anegada for the first time. And by TTOL’s recommendation we will plan to spend two days there. We mainly enjoy exploring, Snorkeling and spending time on the beach. Don’t really care about drinking but might like to eat out at least once. So what and where do you recommend to check our boxes?
Also hoping to rent a truck or van on Virgin Gorda. Who might be the best contact now to arrange a pick up at Leverick? Besides the Baths what else can we explore with the rental. And where can we get groceries. Thanks all. Can’t wait to get there.

Definitely have dinner at the Wonky Dog on Anegada. You can arrange a car rental at Leverick. We always start at the Copper Mine, then the Baths, and then backtrack with a stop at Savannah Bay and Hog Heaven.

Is the lookout tower on Gorda Peak back up? If you like hiking and its up the view is great. I attached a pre Irma pic

For Anegada reach out to Kelly or Sherwin and have them take you out on the Horseshoe reef which is the 4th largest in the world for snorkeling, flamingoes, conch island etc.

You can provision right in Leverick or Spanish Town

We have used mahogany car rental in virgin Gorda on several occasions. They have a decent web site and will deliver to Leverick.

On Anegada, consider renting a car from dean Wheatley.

I too recommend dining at the wonky dog on Anegada.

On Virgin Gorda, try coco maya.

I would suggest on VG to get Savannah Bay..swim and snorkel.....a drink at Hog Heaven for the view. Get groceries at Bucks or Rosy’s.

Our group have been coming down to the bvi starting mid 70s. I can speak to our way for meals. We prefer to eat in also. Our group is 8 for two weeks.. WE fill a cooler from home with meats. About 70 pounds including the cooler. The meat at home is much better. We do the major shopping at right way before leaving the dock. All dry goods for the trip. Produce -dairy - bread ect to fill the first 4 days. We fill in the produce dairy along the way at the small stores as this is very hit or miss. This works out fine with some pre planing at home before you leave.

It was not back up as of last June. We hiked up there with some newbies bragging about the great view, then saw a pile of wood. I guess to be expected.

I too am curious if it is back up, or if there are plans to. That was one of our favorites on VG.

Just returned unfortunately.

Following posts on TTOL we went to Flash of Beauty on Anegada. For good swimmers the snorkeling is fun with large coral formations (the cook or perhaps owner of the restaurant is very helpful and can tell you Where to go as well as being generally interesting to talk to). They will take your order and cook while you are swimming.

We also went to Big Bamboo and had a nice lunch there. It’s much larger than Flash of Beauty but well run and of course a lovely spot.

Don’t order a salad at Wonky Dog - ours was underwhelming. Lobster was good.

On our first visit with 6 people we rented a Ford truck from the hotel at the mooring field. On the second visit with 4 people we rented a Moke from the same hotel. The Moke looks the part (but you cannot do the off road loop on the north of the island although you are allowed to drive the short sand road to Cow Wreck from the south).

One Virgin Gorda there is a decent corner store type grocery at Leverick which also sells alcohol. Fuel dock is very helpful. In the taxi from Leverick to the Baths we passed a Riteway in Spanish Harbor that looked to be open. Didn’t go in.

Our group enjoyed Hog Heaven.

Be prepared for steep road and hairpin turns if you rent. We used a taxi both times we visited.
