The default answer for Orient Beach is 'yes -- it's windy.' But, some days are windier than others. A decent breeze is actually refreshing there, but I've experienced stronger winds many times. If you plan to visit with a portable umbrella be sure you can anchor it securely deep in the sand. This can be a challenge on certain days. I honestly can't recall ever have a totally calm day there.

Are you asking in general or are you on the island and perhaps not stayig near Orient but thinking of going there? Often people staying on the Dutch side will ask about Orient if they are considering venturing over for the day.

As others have stated, it can vary and it can vary from one side of the island to the other.

Recently on Mullet on a day that was pretty calm saw a dozen or so heavy umbrellas wiped out due to a sudden wind gust.

Good idea to plan for windy, and if it's calm then all that is needed is a few more cold beers to keep you cool! Orient Beach winds typically average 18 to 24 kph, with gusts up to and beyond 33 kph. For those of us from the states, that translates to about 12 to 15 mph steady winds, with gusts up to an exceeding 20 mph. Strong wave action usually results from this type of wind. Hope this helps.

Thank you, that is what I thought. Hope you had a good day.
We made Orient one day and it was decent and we did not get sandlbasted but I have seen it like that also.

Was there today and it was REALLY strong. Lasted as long as we could but it eventually got the better of us. Tomorrow? Who knows. You just have to take it day by day.

If you want really good up to date forecasts on wind conditions, try windguru. It's used by sailors and kiteboarders. We are at anchor in the lagoon, and it is windy like always. A few gusts so far this morning that were quite surprising.
