Kenny's is always highly recommended. Might want to give them a try.

Everyone has their favorite but we've used Kennys Car Rental, a sponsor here. Nice to deal with, easy, friendly, moderately priced. One poster here had a problem that was immediately addressed. Leslie, the owner came right to the rescue!

You might want to start by emailing the various sponsors in this forum, as listed under the banner heading above. Most of us regulars have our favorites and I won’t start with that - I’m sure someone else will - but another good idea is to scroll through the posts here for the names of some good companies to do business with.
Edited to add - I didn’t want to start the popularity thing since I’ve so often railed against it, but since others already did, we also use LESLEY Bruce, the owner of Kenny’s Car Rental company and find him to be awesome to do business with. He’s a gentleman, a man of his word and he stands behind his rental with good service you can count on. And to me, that’s the most important aspect of the rental deal, even moreso than price.

Been using Hertz for the last 20 years and always been satisfied both in price and service. They are one of the few that include the Liability insurance, GPS and a front window screen free with rental. Book on line and they give you a 10% discount.

And I have been using Leisure for a few years now. Excellent service and the lowest quote of any when I have checked, not that that's the only criterion. But it's nice when the best price is combined with excellent service. Leisure

I only have rented from the same people every time as in Thrifty, (they always upgrade me plus I ask for a car with French plates) so never shopped about, but keep hearing about Kenny's and others but appreciate the loyalty we give to those that look after us. However, have no idea about price. My CC company would cover liability, etc, so never take that on but nobody has discussed terms here. Coming for three weeks in May/June and have a price that equates with all taxes etc to $21.00 per day, which I thought was good. Perhaps it isn't? Would be interested to hear your comments and if I am in the right ballpark or not? Also with Thrifty they deliver the car where you want it at the time you want it.

" My CC company would cover liability," And what CC company would that be? I haven't heard of any that does. Collision yes, liability no.

I think talking about what we pay for car rental is somewhat futile. It can depend upon the time of year. It certainly depends on the size of car. And longevity as a customer usually results in additional discounts that a first-time renter would not experience.

i would recheck that my ae platinum policy says What is Covered If Damage to or Theft of a Rental Vehicle occurs while coverage is in effect, the Plan will pay a benefit up to a maximum of $75,000 per Rental Agreement for: no where does it say they will cover liability if a person is injured in the other car also FYI AE offers two products the standard which come with the card which is a secondary payor after your car insurance and a premium product which you must register for for a one time fee of 19.95 per rental period covers you up to a 30 day rental and is primary but still dos not cover liability As far as liability I never got a exact answer hertz told me unlimited both sides but also says 50000 on dutch (not sure iwhat s the a maximum amount of damages are on dutch side in the states if somebody loses limb or paralyzed that would be totaly inadequate ) kenny says they have 50000 included french law states that rentals must have unlimited Insurance but cars may come with a deductible

You may find internet rates listed online but a phone call or an email may produce better rates.

No problem but I would re-check on the liability coverage on the credit card.

But, it's really not that difficult to say I'm renting a Hyundai I-10 from May 17-June 4, for $xxx, excluding insurance from Cruzer Rentals. That covers vehicle size, season, and some details, plus gives a person a reasonable base from which to make a price comparison.

Correct. I don't care what people pay during high season. Just the time period I go and need a car.
