Hi everyone. We are headed down in a month and it sounds like things are much more busy than the last time I was there (July 2018). I’ve been to Anegada twice but we picked up balls both times. If we need to anchor I wanted to make sure I knew where the appropriate spots were. It looks like between the mooring field and Anegada Reef Hotel is one spot and the other is around the point at Pomato Point. If I had too get to the later, I assume you work your way through the mooring field and get around the point - Navionics shows some markers but I’m not sure if they are still there.

Any guidance is appreciated. One other question: If I anchored around the point near Pomato Point it looks like when leaving Anegada you could head out from the anchorage right out to sea vs. working your way back through the mooring field and back out the main channel. Navionics shows that the depth is more than sufficient.

Appreciate any comments.

Between the mooring field and Anegada Reef the depth is about 5'.

If you need more depth, you can anchor southeast of the mooring field / southwest of the government pier in about 8'.

You'll have 5-6' anchoring off of Neptune's Treasure (east of Pomato Point).

If you want to anchor west of Pomato Point, enter from the south/southwest. Don't try to maneuver through the mooring field and past Neptune's coming or going as you'll likely wind up on Jake's Shoal.

Walker's detailed chart is a worthwhile investment to help stay out of trouble - http://shop.bvipirate.com/anegchart.html

We have anchored quite often at Anagada. For many years our draft was 6.5 feet so we wanted to be on the safe side. There is 10 feet of depth off the government pier for anchoring. It is well marked in the cruising guide. Just make sure you are not in the channel for the mooring field. It's a nice sandy bottom.
