I know this is not necessarily a new subject on the forum...but I do not recall anyone ever mentioning about their T Mobile phone service on island. I recently switched to them. I chatted with them today, about our upcoming trip...and was told two separate ways to use the phone while on SXM. First, there is an ''international" plan they offer for 15 dollars a month. Supposedly, it is good for calls both incoming and outcoming from the US to SXM...BUT....it is for land lines only? Second, according to what I was told, they charge a rate of 25 cents per minute, both incoming and outgoing from island to USA.
For all the years before, it was always so easy to rent from Sharon...and not have to worry bout this stuff.....
My question...has anyone else here used T Mobile on island...and am wondering how the reception...the charges, and everything else worked out??
The combination that was explained to me by the T Mobile rep didn't sound to bad.....but sometimes what they tell you, and what it is can be two different things. Look forward to hearing if anyone here has used this service. Thanks in advance Ed

We have used T Mobile on the Island for the last couple of years. Except for last year. Our plan is T Mobile One Unlimited 55 In SXM it included Texting and data free WiFi calling to and from the US Yes 25 cents a minute if not on WiFi. I made some non WiFi calls to my husband (t mobile to t mobile). It was 25 cents a minute for each phone, We were on the Islands for 3 weeks. Our bill is $12.20 more than usual. One thing that they did warn me about was that sometime when you are on WiFi it can drop during the call and then you are offline.. I called my 92 year old mother on her landline quite often and that must have happened to me. But certainly happy for $12.20 I was on my phone texting and checking emails often on the Dutch side and on Orient Beach at Bikini. Also driving around the Island. We only used WiFi calling when we could. We have been very happy with T-Mobile. We have been with them since 2000.

We can attest to what you heard from T-Mobile and mcb. We were there for 3 weeks Dec/Jan and paid 0 for texts via WIFI. As in the past WIFI would sometimes be weak or drop but much better than past years.

Besides cheap calls, the T Mobile plan includes unlimited cellular text and data. This all comes without any additional fee to your US cell plan. Also they give you one hour of data on any domestic flight. Granted the cellular data is slow on SXM, but was actually more reliable, and as fast, as wifi when we stayed at Club O.
