I have found in the past that flying on certain days is alot less expensive than other days. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's seem to be the least expensive days.
I'm looking for confirmation from the forum on that.
thanks

I think I concur with your findings. Certain airlines, when you go directly to their websites, will ask if your dates are flexible. I believe both Delta and West Jet have grids where you can align departure and return dates that present the varying costs based on the specific day of the week. My experience has been Tuesdays and Wednesdays are typically lower, but exceptions do exist. In reality this only makes sense because business people will typically fly on Mondays and Fridays, while many tourists fly weekend to weekend. That would leave a void regarding the middle of the week. This is just one more step in the battle to find 'reasonable' air prices!

We mostly fly United out of Newark, and I've found that there is no certain day of the week when the prices are lowest. On our last trip, the Sunday price was the best - much lower than the following day. If your scheduling is flexible, go to the airline's site and research the basic time period when you want to go. On United, you can do a calendar search for the entire year (for the dates that they've released) and see how widely the fares vary. After we've found airfare, then we decide on accommodations.
I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

United out of newark is the only airline flying to ST.M. we fly our of jfk and we book directly on jet blue website. we can chootfair as each day is different we are flexible and are not timeshare folks. but have alwways foung a fair price on certain days.Sorhate united and hate newark. and we can easily go to either airport, they are both over 2 hours away. you probably will never get a good deal from one airline flying with no competition. we love jet blue and have always gotten great prices. but we can be flexible. sorry for the above jibble i am here and having a hell of a time typing.

It’s coincidental that I was searching for future dates today on the JB web-site. As a timeshare visitor I still often exercise my options as to the day of the week I fly, even though it often means I come a day earlier or later or fly home a few days later, renting extra days to do this and make it all work. The particular week I was looking at would have allowed me to fly home to NYC on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, all for the same lowest fair. I was quite surprised because I thought Friday would have been closer to the weekend pricing but after reading this I rechecked and it’s still listed at the lowest price along with Wednesday and Thursday.
Respectfully,
pat

I have always found Tuesday,Wednesday Thursday and sometimes Sunday to be the best days for lowest prices on airfare. Also the fares change around 2:00 AM on Wednesday so since I am a night hawk, I have locked in great fares at that time. They have always got higher after that. At least this has been my experience. However, I have also got good fares only booking two weeks in advance when they want to fill the plane. Sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason for airline pricing!

........... Sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason for airline pricing! I more or less agree, Elizabeth, but I might change that to read “most times.........”

When you are searching for airfares make sure you use private mode on your browser. Most sites will put a cookie on your computer so they will recognize you the next time you search and give you the same price as before.
