Just got this and we are arriving that day!

After more than year, and a very long and arduous restoration process, we are pleased to announce the reopening of La Terrasse on February 16, 2019 timeshare interval 7.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to our construction crew for their unwavering dedication in reconstructing and restoring La Terrasse after the incredible damages we sustained from Hurricane Irma.
We are extremely happy with the upgrades that have been done throughout the resort, and you will return to a newly renovated and upgraded unit that has a renewed Caribbean vibe; your new home! Your valuable feedback has been taken into consideration, and we have made significant improvements to our in-room amenities, lighting and WiFi .
Amongst the enchantment of the area, including the new Casino Royale, and the incredible comeback of Maho Village, you will also enjoy the remarkable progress of our beloved island.
As progress continues, and while there still remains a lot of work to be done, we hope that you will be pleased with the enormous work that has been done to restore La Terrasse to its peaceful and scenic setting you are accustomed to.
Royal Islander Club would like to thank its members and guests for their outpouring of prayers and support during the past year.
We are looking forward to welcoming you back to your home away from home.

Wonderful. We are considering staying there in May.

Any idea as to whether the pool has reopened?

Look forward to your report of the stay. Guessing one still needs to pay parking?

Are you enjoying it? How wonderful to have two weeks! Do you have any experiences or pictures to share with us? Do you own at LaTerrasse?

Hello Beach Kitten; We have been at LaTerrasse for 2 weeks and it is our 11th year renting in this building. We are from upstate NY and have become friends with many Canadians that also rent in the building for 2-3 months. This year we are doing 5 weeks and we spend most days at Karakters, ElZafiro or Mullet beach. During the 2 weeks we have been here we have eaten out most nights at; Bavaria for great German food, the Greenhouse, Winnies Chinese, 3 Amigos Le Moulin Fou and Rendezvous. Today our group of 8 chipped in and we rented a taxi from Mr Jones in front of LaPlage and spent the day at Pinel. Pinel is an enjoyable day but with taxi, ferry fare, lounger rental food and cocktails it was a $125 day at the beach. Most evenings we start with happy hour at Taco Macho or 3 Amigos and move on from there for dinner out. Then it is on to Casino Royale where we enjoy several hours of gambling and then up the street to The Hole in the Wall. We have enjoyed Hole in the Wall entertainment with Ronnie Santana, Bob from the old Cover to Cover and other performers that we have enjoyed 5 nights a week.
We prefer the Maho area where we don't have to drive the rental car and we can walk to evening dinners and entertainment. I have shot a number of photos with my cell phone but have not figured out how to email them and then post on TTOL.
The pace of the hurricane repairs in Maho is incredible. We see hundreds of Chinese workers working 12+ hours daily and admire their work ethic. We see these guys leaving Sonesta at 8 pm and they walk up the hill beyond the casino and stay in a large building that has been divided into sleeping and living quarters.
We have friends staying at LaPlage and have spent several afternoons with them. I find it incredible that LaPlage is up and running and better than ever. We were on the island during January 2018 and toured many of the damaged sites-now we are in awe that Royal Islander is up and running better than ever. I am disappointed that many resorts are still surrounded by plywood and chain link fencing and not progressing with recovery. Hats off to the Royal Islander for getting it done.

Staying 5 weeks we have shopped at Super U last week when the Super U was doing 1 for one on the exchange rate. Great place but we still prefer Cost U less where we shopped this weekend. We probably prefer Cost U Less as we are able to read the labels and they stock many goods from the US that we are familiar with
Sorry we missed Norm's get together of TTOL - as I was not aware of the gathering until I saw his post. Take care-

John Hill to echo what’s already been said, thank you so much for all your information. I’ve got a question though, I’m also an owner at the same place. How did you know your place would be ready? I mean I haven’t gotten a statement and I’ve called and reached out so I just found it interesting as well.

But I totally agree, I do like to hang by the Maho Area so much so that I didn’t want to rent a car, but have anyway. Sounds like the area is really coming along. Thank you so much for all the detailed info. You rock.

Thanks for the report John. Good to see lots of workers actually working to try to get places up and running, as compared to the weird situation at Flamingo and Royal Palm.

Also, could you describe some of the room upgrades or how it’s different from a couple years ago? And could you estimate how many people are actually at La Terrasse right now?

I’m really doubled down on excitement now with all the info you posted about the Mayo!

The unit owners were allowed to continue renting their units throughout the construction process. We rented from an owner and she sent us photos on the building conditions. I am not sure what the time share upgrades are-I have seen several T/S units under construction and all new sheet rock, cabinets and furniture is going in. We have a friend with time share weeks 7 & 8 and she is arriving Feb 16th. I would say the building is 40% occupied by owners and renters. Now that the T/S units are preparing to open, I would think the building will fill quickly.
