Scotia Bank is not selling their Canadian locations. Only selling off their Caribbean locations.

The article says Republic Financial Holdings from Trinidad and Tobago not Bank of America. BofA is awful by the way.

A lot of people who bank with Bank Of America take advantage of an agreement between BoA and Scotiabank where they are able to use Scotiabank ATMs with no fees.

The BofA no fees is kind of misleading, as they do charge a 3% gouge on foreign transactions, even if denominated in USD, on their debit card. I complained to them about this, but they had nothing to offer that eliminated the 3% charge, so I got a Schwab debit card for foreign travel.

This is huge for us. We have NO FEES accessing our BOA account via Scotiabank ATM's which is what wislonck is talking about. Not sure what we will do.

Yes, my post was obviously not clear enough. Yes, it is only some of the Scotiabank Caribbean operations that are being sold to Republic; nothing in Canada is affected. However, for those Canadians who bank with Scotiabank at home, this will be an inconvenience when visiting the affected Caribbean islands, including St Maarten.

Is there anything new on Scotia Bank being sold? Can Bank of America customers still use the ATM for free?
