Be sure to rent a car and take a trip up to Todos Santos and have lunch at Hotel California. Check out the doors to the restrooms. Good for a laugh.

January is a prime time for whale watching - recommend going sailing on a catamaran at least twice. On your drive up the pacific coast to Todos Santos, stop at Km 69 a little place called Art & Beer - google it. Also along that drive, a surfers beach called Los Cerritos. There's a couple of newer places there on the beach so it's no longer just surfers - but waves get big there in the winter and a lot of surfers come to ride big waves.

Lover's Beach near the arches. Go snorkeling near the sea lions and under the arches.

Lovers beach was nearly washed away during hurricane Odile in September. Last I checked, there's more sand on the pacific side - divorce beach. It's too dangerous to swim that side due to the rip tide currents and strong undertow. Nice to walk the beach area tho, and still worth the trip.

Is it safe to rent a car and drive in that area of Mexico?
