I was killing time during the football game and checking flight cost for March and April. Seems the airlines are being more resonable or their is a sale on. Prime flights still high, but resonable options for Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Miami and Orlando ($400-600 Rt) Saw RT NONSTOP from Ft Lauderdal as low as $227 weekend departures.

Hoping its a trend and not just a sale.

Funny to read this post. Just looked today to book a trip in November 2019 from Houston to SXM. I was shocked by what I saw on AA. $1377.00 per person R/T!!! Are you kidding me. Delta was even higher. The last time my wife and I went to SXM in 2016 we paid about $1200 for both of us. We were looking forward to going back to our favorite island, but will not be able to do it with these airfares. We could go to Australia from Houston for about the same price. Very disappointing!

I think fares are coming down. We booked for our November/December flights on Delta a couple of days ago, and got two round trips for a little over $1,200, arriving on a Monday and leaving on a Friday. Saturday to Saturday flights were outrageous, as was first class. However, a friend booked Saturday to Saturday for the first week in December for under $750 r/t coach. That's comparable to what we were paying before Irma.

The Ft Lauderdale flights on Jet Blue are stupid cheap right now. I was just looking for a friend who is doing a one way cruise from SXM to Barbados and the flight from FLL to SXM on Jet Blue in Mid March was $89 one way (without seats).

WOW! I didn't pay anywhere near that high amount for our March trip. I'd think Nov. would be a lot cheaper. $1200 rt for two seems very high.

That amount would be very reasonable for many travelers. I just paid almost $750 for an upcoming trip and that was much less than what I had been seeing. What people pay on the East coast is nothing like most of the rest of the country.

rural carrier, $750 from Ohio would be a good price. Yes, sometimes in NE we catch a good price but GaKaye's $1200 seems very high because I assume they'd be leaving from Charlotte which we sometimes connect through from Providence.

My friends daughter just booked for March and it was 572.00 from Seattle. On jetblue down then jetblue back to JFK and AA to Seattle. Red eye to JFK, short am layover then non stop to sxm. Return direct to JFK small layover and direct to Seattle. We thought this was pretty good considering coming from Seattle!

I just put in some random dates (Nov) on AA from CLT to SXM and the current fare is between $600+ to around $800 for basic economy. Your connecting flight will often be cheaper than booking from CLT without any connection. It often depends on your origination (NE) determining the fare.

When you do not have the option of 3-4 airports and 3-4 carriers, you are stuck with the higher fares, connections and sometimes overnight travel.

That's at least $200 each cheaper than we've ever gotten. You folks in the NE are spoiled!

We're actually flying Delta thru ATL this time, leaving from Raleigh. CLT is a 4-1/2 hour drive from our home, so we try to find a closer airport whenever we can. And my original post was an error; we arrive on Sunday, not Monday. The end of November is the beginning of high season, so not sure why you think fares would be lower then than in March.

We got our SEA to CLT to SXM first class for $840 on a Sat 11:30am arrival for our coming May trip. Used miles for our same day Sat return. Both on AA.

I keep checking a November price on UA from Newark NJ, but all flights around $1100. RT. I will not be going for those prices.

I didn't realize it was at the end of Nov. I was thinking of son who flew last Nov from Tampa to Miami (he lives in Parrish, FL) to SXM.

And I guess we are lucky as rural carrier says that being in NE we can fly PVD, CLT (or PHI) SXM on UA or direct from BOS -SXM on Jet Blue. Direct costs more but worth it if it storms. We've lost too many days in the past flying the PVD to CLT or PHI SXM. This year we're flying JB from Boston for shy of $1100.

Joe-- from that area, you have a LOT of other options, all of which should be roughly half of that price, if not less. You just have to be a bit more flexible, than limiting yourself to Newark only and UA. We currently drive 3.5 hours one way to Miami most of the time, for a nonstop.

Joe, if you’re will to do a connecting flight w/o an overnight you can get it for about $670 on American. If you’re willing to do an overnight on the way down you can get it for $387.

Check this link, don’t search by exact dates, search by month and range of stay (for example 7-9 nights). You can then refine search criteria ( no of stops, max cost, flight duration). It will show you every available combination of flights. Its really a great search engine. However you can not book through it.
