I need information as to the state of the ferries that run from Roadtown to STT.
Roadtown Fast Ferry Smiths (do they have any boats? Is it still a company Ocean Dreams Native Son
Who is doing the Roadtown to STT runs? How reliable? I am very familiar with the Roadstown to STT runs but not up to the current state of affairs.

Best get to the dock around 9 am. There have been 9.30/10/ and 10.30 departures. RT Fast Ferry will probably be the 10 but we also saw , and took, InterIsland that used to go to STJ and then Red Hook but now goes to Charlotte Amalie. Rarely see any Smith's boats but Native Son is up and running too.

We are pretty well set for : hotels, st.Thomas, and Road Town, before and after our two week bare boat sailing vacation in may.
Looking at the various ferrys from St. Thomas, to Road Town Round Trip on the computer
NATIVE SUN ( 13:45 * 14:45 * 16:00 hrs ) and ROAD TOWN FAST FERRY ( 08:30 * noon * 16:15 hrs) , seemed the best choices for us.
We do have some questions that you all may be able to help us out with.
1. U.S. Citizens, born and raised, current passports. LAX to STT. then Ferry to Road Town.
FERRY : DO WE HAVE TO CLEAR OUT OF CUSTOMS LEAVING St. Thomas , USVI to BVI ( Road town ) or only check in with Customs at Road Town. Seems the latter since USVI are U.S.
2. AFTER ARRIVAL IN THE U.S.V.I, we are planning on spending a night at OLGA's Fancy Hotel, and catch one of the above ferry's to Road Town. If we do not have to clear customs, we can catch the 08:30 am, ferry.
This is the first time that we have gone thru St. Thomas in all of our years of visits, always flew in from SJU direct to EIS ( beef island, tortola ). DO WE HAVE TO CLEAR AGRICULTURE in St. Thomas when going to BVI.
Any help would be appreciated as to customs procedures leaving USVI ( St. Thomas ) for BVI. We do expect to clear customs entering BVI, and also have heard that there is now an entry fee for BVI. If so, what would that fee be. No problem, we just want to have the proper exact amount ready to keep life easy, and lines not held up.
Thank you, very much
Denny and Erica

No need to clear out of USVI. You must pay an environmental fee entering BVI, $20 I believe. Coming back, you will have to clear back through customs at ferry dock and at the airport.

Thank you, xray man,
Your info will make our lives a whole lot easier. Also, we are all for helping out the bvi , so no big deal with the enviornmental fee.

Road Town Fast Ferry, Native Son, Inter Island, and Smith's all have scheduled service. The reliability seems about the same as pre-Irma.

RT Fast Ferry has , by far, the best boats. We also like Inter Island because of their staff..we've had issues with both Native Son and Smith's over the years.

Smith's seems to have no boats. Essentially they are out of business.

What is Ocean Dreams doing? On Friday, Ocean Dreams ran the Smith's 3:30 trip. I think they are still filling in when Smith's needs a bigger boat. I don't think the new catamarans are servicing St Thomas yet.
