A fine G'day to you all....
I am in the process of finishing off our planning for our BVI sailing vacation in may,
Thought I had it pretty well taken care of, but , Nanny Cay Hotel is going thru a major construction of its second floor, and putting on a new roof. We meed to change plans for our first and last night land stays of our two week sailing charter.
So, my research has found Village Cay Marina, right there in Road Harbor. Do not know about any damage from Irma or any construction, photos show everything is good, but who know when those were taken. From what we see, nice rooms, reasonable rates, pool, bar, restaurant, slips out front, nice view, etc. Close to town, the ferry dock, and short taxi to Conch Charters. All, positives..
Our question is , does anyone have any comments, good or bad, on staying at Village Cay Hotel, Road Harbor post Irma ?.
This would be,, our first , and last nights, of our two week charter.
Thank you, ahead of time.
Denny and Erica

Try Maria’s by the Ssa. Stayed 3 nights one time at Village Cay and would never do it again.

From a vacation perspective, getting out of Road Town might be better. Much more relaxing a scenic to be on the north shore somewhere. I'd check with Sebastians, Myett's, or Rhymers too.

If you're flying out of St. Thomas, we enjoy spending out last night on St. Thomas. Returning the boat by noon, taking the 1:30 ferry over then chilling at the beach and pool for the evening. Our flight doesn't go out until about 4:00 the following day, so we still around the pool all morning, take a shower and head to the airport about 1:30. Makes for a much less stressful day of flying.

I'll second Sebastians. We stayed there for a few days pre/post charter a few years ago. The rooms were clean and quiet and the view is beautiful. It's a longer ride to get there than something in Road Town, but if you're looking for quiet I'd look there.

First night at Maria's by the Sea will have you near Bobby's market and other shops and Crafts Alive Village gift shops. Nice restaurant's nearby and in the hotel. Last night I would definitely take the ferry to St. Thomas. Why? Well, just suppose the ferry you really needed from Tortola to St. Thomas wasn't running, and the next one was running late and you have ten minutes to get from the ferry dock to the airport. Ooopsie! It happened to us one time and luckily for us our flight was running late. So now we stay last night in St. Thomas and have some fun there. We stay at the Emerald Beach hotel now as it is right by the airport and on a beach, but there are many others and reviews are good. Have fun!

Thank you,
You all are right on, and we pretty much have already made our departure day plans , as you have.
We were also looking at Maria's by the Sea, as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.
On the back end, agree with some kick back wiggle room on St. Thomas. Last day of sailing, we want to check the boat into conch, and then stay one last night on Tortola. Then, clear out, and ferry over to St. Thomas and will be spending a couple of days on St. Thomas before we board the plane from STT to. MIA to LAX.
We like it easy, with some wiggle room , and after returning the boat to Conch. WE DO NOT WANT TO BE RUSHED AND ON THE CLOCK . , so one last night on Tortola. Too bloody old to be racing around and depending on others for a successful completion of the objective. We will slow down, and keep life simple and easy.
perfect, One last hotel night in Road Harbor, maybe Maria's, then take the ferry to Saint Thomas the next day , and then have a couple of easy days exploring the USVI a bit. In all of the BVI years, 35 or so, we have not spent any time on St. Thomas, and want to go to Meghans bay, and scout about a bit. Slow and easy, No rushing about, or worrying about schedules.
Thank you all for your suggestions, I am going to check out Maria's at this very moment. You all are fantastic.
We do listen to those who have local knowledge and proceed accordingly. .
Outstanding,
Denny and Erica
