Did the Kon Tiki beach bar open late December? When we where there in mid December it looked like they were finishing the construction and we were wondering when and if it was open?

I actually didn't realize Kontiki was open. I knew Kakao was open. Anyone here been to Kontiki??

Noting that Bikini was or is charging $30 for two chairs and an umbrella I wonder what Kakao and Kontiki are charging, will that amount be the new standard on Orient?
I prefer the Isle seat

We left SXM on December 27th, Bikini and Kakao are both open and both charging $30 a day for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella. Kon Tiki was opening the day we left.

I do think that will he the new standard price on Orient at least for the fave 5 at that end of tge beach. Perhaps if others get open at the southern end, they may offer the same for $ 25 or a bit less.

Kontiki is open and Bikini Beach and Kakao are all charging 30$ for 2 chairs and umbrella. We paid without a complaint. Just glad they’re back.

I woudn't mind as long as it is a nice padded chair, rooom for the chairs and good service. Bikini when there in late Nov/Dec had the nice chairs with pads and room for the chairs but not great service and the food was average at best but they were the only game on the beach at that time. Looking forward to La Playa opening up, may try Kakao next trip or others but not likely going back to Bikini.
We very much enjoyed Friars, excellent all the way around. After spending time at Dreams we got spoiled and that may be the toughest part of returning to SXM for us, the lack of quality beach bars. It is like flying first class, once you do you realize that coach kind of sucks.

Todd--Great analogy there!! I am also looking forward to LaPlaya reopening, to hopefully recapture some of the greatness that was Dreams!!!

Kontiki open in their old spot. I thought they were going to be the other side of bikini.
