We will be there in January. Our plane will land in SXM at 4:15. We are trying to decide on a place on the Dutch side we can stop and watch the sunset before going to Orient. I know a lot of you are Simpson Bay lovers so I’m wondering if I’m at Karakter or Mary Boone will the sun set into the water or over Beacon Hill(I think that’s the name)? I really want to see it drop into the water - other suggestions are welcome. We’ve done driftwood and sunset bar so we’re looking for something different.
Also, if we decide on Yacht club instead, in your opinion, what are the chances we make it there before the bridge opens at 5:00?

I know you said "on the Dutch Side" but if you're driving to Orient why not go through Grand Case to get to Orient. Stop at Sunset Cafe at Grand Case Beach Club. The best sunsets we've ever seen in SXM. Full restaurant and bar there on a point overlooking Anquilla to the right and the sun setting to the left over the masts of boats. Do not leave your luggage in the car unless you can see it every minute while you are watching the sunset.

Grand Case Beach Club is gated and has a security guard so luggage should not be a problem if you choose there for sunset.

Thanks for the response. I’m a little worried I won’t have time to get to Grand Case for sunset 🤷🏻♀️. However, we don’t check luggage so I’m hoping for a quick exit at airport. Pburk40 Thanks for the reminder on luggage also, we plan to keep our luggage with us as we do not rent a car but have driver we have been using for years.
