My friend is delayed in ATL trying to get to AXA, doesn't look as if she will make the last shuttle or ferry.
What are the names of some hotels near the airport please? I know they are probably full, but I want to try and help her.
Thanks for your help.

Sure you know space is limited due to time of year, and what hasn’t reopened yet.

You might try:
https://www.travelinnhotel.com

Or even Mary’s Boon may have a room for 1 night

Thank you, I know it is a long shot at this time of year, but their landing time is now 6:15pm.
I just want to try and give her a back up if need be.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you, I will get their number too. The seas are really rough and a small craft advisory is in effect, plus I am not sure how late the port in AXA will stay open.
I want to have some options for them, I know they will not want to spend the night in the airport, as they were 4 hours late leaving ATL, so they are tired.
Hoping it all works out for them, fingers crossed.
Thanks to all for your help.

I hope that somehow they are able to make it to AXA tonight. This week in particular has to be really tough to get a hotel last minute! I can guarantee that they will not let them spend the night in the airport at SXM. I might suggest that they check when they arrive to see if there is a Delta person there at the airport that they can talk to, that might help them get a room. Or if not Delta, any of the airline people that might be there, at any airline counter. Best wishes to them!

Thanks Carol, I am hoping there is someone there to help them. I have contacted Calypso shuttle and they said they would send a boat and it would be waiting, but the way the seas are, and the late hour, I don't know if they will be able to do that, even though they have good intentions. I see a lot of Airbnb's on Hipmunk, maybe a taxi driver can take them to one of those if worse comes to worse. They are due to land in an hour.
Thanks to everyone for your help and suggestions, I will keep you posted as to the outcome.

Best wishes to them!

If they make it to the Yacht Club by the bridge, I know one of the guys there is an agent for several Air BnB's. Let me see if I can find his info.
Have you been reaching out to places for them, any calls?

Thanks Beach Kitten, no I have not called anyone, I sent her the phone numbers for the places you folks gave me. The AirBnB's, I saw on Flightview - hotels all sold out, BnB's are the only ones with availability.
They just landed, fingers crossed the boat is at the dock and they can make the crossing.
Thanks for all.

Ellen,

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner. Not that I could add much.

Will say a little prayer and keep my fingers crossed that it all works out. As I’m sure you know, there is no hotel directly attached to the airport but the airline people must have contingency plans for situations such as this. I know that our timeshare often houses displaced passengers from a few of the airlines so perhaps Delta has their own similar game plan. I’d hate for them to have to make the crossing to Blowing Point in the dark with the high seas running but rest assured, the boats won’t take the risk if they feel it’s unsafe.

Good luck to your friend and I hope the situation works out.

Respectfully,

pat

They made it! Calypso waited for them and then got them across - 9' swells at times, but they are there, tired and hungry. Thank heavens for miracles.
Thank you everyone for your help and concern, I appreciate your kind thoughts.

OMG! I cannot imagine a crossing like that at night.

Hopefully they've been there before, know where to find food, and are able to rolllllll with it! wink

Was supposed to be "good to hear". Don't know where that came from. Still scratching my head.

Scuba,

For curiosity sake, do you, by any chance, work on an iPad? I see my iPad making strange changes all the time, sometimes between when I’ve proofed my own words and when I’ve posted them. I don’t know if other devices would make these changes but I do know my computer doesn’t. Auto correct has caused me to say some really bizarre things on occasion.....and on one occasion, which thankfully I caught before posting, it gave my train of thought a wholly different implication than what I had intended.

I use my android Samsung note 8 and my LG Verizon tablet when I'm away from my desk top. Yes auto correct does some bizare things.
