Brandywine was full today - of goats. Two large herds. Not a single human. To think of it, I have never seen a person using that beach. And Malcolm, you are right about the pre cruise ship days - so much better. We ignore them. I am happy to help most other visitors.

Some of us remember the halcyon days when no cruise ships came to Tortola and the local refrain was" We dont want to become St Thomas"..how times have changed. I too remember those wonderful days. In fact the Flying Cloud was considered an outrageous intrusion. (We yachties called her the "Frying Crowd"). And I remember the first public forum in Road Town regarding the introduction of cruise ships to the BVI. It was well attended by locals and expats - most of whom objected to the idea. And I'll never forget Cyril Romney's (10% Cyril) words: "Like it or not, people, this is going to happen!"

From Travel Agent Central today -
“The territory expects over 200 port calls and 400,000 passengers in the 2018/2019 season.”
UGH...

I’m reading the Long Bay Beach Club was sold to a buyer in CA and is re-opening as it was with the main reception areas, pool, etc. before the downsize. Any status updates? Is the beach useable (read that was being cleaned up last Oct)? How about the Tropical Fusion or anothe spot for drinks and restrooms? Thanks!

Thanks.
Just saw this posted about Long Bay, Beef by a cruiser, they were on their own and not on a cruise ship excursion -
“It has amenities (toilet, clean water, food, drinks, chair lounges and umbrellas for rent)...and it’s quiet!”
Won’t be quiet any longer, what a shame...
