I’m staying at Orient Beach in January, and I assume the lunch places like Le String along there which I really enjoyed were wiped out with the hurricane. Have they been re built? Thank you.

No, only Bikini and Perch Lite are serving lunch right now . More may open in 2019.

As Elizabeth said, that's all that's open now. Kontiki may be open by January, I don't know. Plus there are several places open in Orient Village. The GOOD news is that if you have your own chairs and a cooler, you can have a lovely open expanse of sand to yourself.

I was wondering about LaPlaya, which had been supposed to reopen in December this year. Unfortunately, according to their website, the hotel and the restaurant are now scheduled to reopen in May 2019.
And actually I am thinking now Kakao was supposed to open before Kontiki? Can't remember.

Kakao was originally hoping for 11/15 but has now pushed back to 12/15

It looks like a month or more before Kakao is ready to open. We checked it out this week.
