Hi, My husband and I will be staying at Scrub Island NYE and love the idea of going to Foxy’s for the big party. However, we’re not sure what our options are (if any) to get back so late in th evening. Any ideas? Thank you!

The ferries run all night from West End but you have to get there and back..

The office at Scrub will have ideas for you but the best option is probably a private boat. Split amongst a group it might be a decent price.

Thank you! I was thinking that might be the safest option as well. I’ll talk to the folks at Scrub and see what they think.

December and January comes with the Christmas winds and the seas from Jost to Scrub could be a bit disturbed.
It would probably be wiser to meet the the private boat at West End and on the return taxi to Beef island to meet the Scrub ferry.

If you're going to travel to West End, no need for a private boat. The ferry runs late and does not require a reservation. $30/pp roundtrip.

I guess we would just have to make sure we leave early enough to get back to Trellis Bay by 10:30pm, unless the Scrub Island ferry also runs later on NYE. My husband is afraid we’ll be “over served” and miss the boat ;-)

Sail445 is correct: if the Christmas winds are blowing a Scrub to JVD ride to the north could be really rough. Bad enough during the day - worse after dark. Jason is also correct that a ferry to West End or even shuttle to CGB would be easier. However, it’s a long taxi ride from West End, so you would have to leave after dinner, which sort of defeats the NYE concept.

As I recall, in the past Scrub ran a later ferry to the party in Trellis Bay. There may have been a fee. They will sometimes run a special ferry for a price. Ask them. They may also have some sort of party. I vaguely remember that, although we’ll probably be in bed by 9pm!

That’s sort of my thought too RatmansWife. Maybe we’ll just join the party at Trellis Bay and forgo Foxy’s. I would hate to have to leave so early. Next time we visit the BVIs on NYE, we’ll plan to stay on Jost or West End, Tortola. Thanks!

Leave real early and enjoy the island of Jost have an early dinner and be back at Trellis and enjoy the New Year.
Foxy’s NYE after midnight is not a pretty scene with people barfing all over the beach.

Yikes, that sounds awful! We were definitely planning to spend a day on Jost so maybe we’ll do just that. Thank you!

Check the Dive BVI web site. They have day trips from Scrub which will be your best bet. Depending on the days you’ll be around, they may have their Jost trip. I suspect they’re playing things by ear. Last year they were still closed, so demand was not there. If they’re busy this year, as they often were over that time, they will add on trips.

I will be at Foxy's for the NYE party - my first time to BVI / Jost / Foxy's / all of it. Not sure about the barfing on the beach (LOL! :^)) but I suppose that is one of the potential perils of any NYE adventure! smile
