Not complaining, but this week marks the 46th anniversary of our first trip to the island. We may have missed a year or two along the way, though I don’t think so, and we’ve more than made up for them if we did with all the multitrip years we’ve enjoyed, but it’s got to be said. Never, over all these years, have we experienced weather like we’ve seen this trip.

It hasn’t been a washout but I think yesterday was the only day since we’ve been here that we didn’t experience at least one small rain shower and today has been absolutely crazy. And the rest of the time, when it wasn’t raining, it’s been perfect!

We left this morning for breakfast next door at El Zafiro and then, after a quick replenishment stop at Zee Best for pastries we went over to Mullet to check out the conditions there. Looked like a Mullet kinda day so we ran home and changed into our suits and by the time we were ready to leave it had clouded over and you just knew it was going to pour.

We’re right next to the pool so we did that instead while we waited for the downpour. You never saw a pool deck clear so fast and this has now been going on all day. I just left the pool for the third and last time today.

That’s it! I’m done! But the sun is now out and shining and it’s gorgeous again.

Respectfully,

pat

Crazy stuff! I know it must be frustrating. Have fun, running between the rain drops!

It’s been a wild day at times. Fierce rain, and then gorgeous. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. But there’s snow at home, and I can live with a bit of rain.

Pat, so sorry to hear about the weather but as I type this I am looking out the window at 8' of snow and more coming. I know you will make the most of it anyway. It is weird though. We were there the last two weeks of September, peak hurricane season and although we had some rain it was always short lived and generally gorgeous the rest of the time, meanwhile the US was suffering through hurricane Florence and our hometown was pummeled by high winds and lots of tree damage. Go figure!

Pat, we got 6" and your home probably got more. Big difference between 32 degree downpour and a 75 degree one. Yes, it's upsetting to pay a lot of money to get soaked but, as you said, it was showers not an all day affair. Lets see how we make out there next week.

Believe me, please, the weather has dampened our activities for limited moments but the trip has been wonderful and the rain definitely has not dampened our spirits or our outlook towards the island. It needs us.

We were at the yacht club and the bridge was opening and it started pouring the big ships had trouble getting out. Soon as they were all through the rain stopped. Looks like it’s really raining right now at the airport

You must be on the French side . We have been here since Jan 5th & it rained one day so far for 15 minutes & that's it. Today was a bit cloudy & beautiful sunshine after lunch at Kali's . We have been at orient & Friars Bay. Beautiful days & I think it rained one night last week.

Jeepers,

If you’re talking about pat, she sure wishes she was where you are but no such luck, Shes stuck back in breezy cold Connecticut waiting out the weather forecast and the impending snow/ice storm they're calling for for this coming weekend. So far this winter, the only snow in our area was back in November when we were where you are now..

Respectfully,

pat

Got here 12/30 and learned 2 previous days were wash outs.
Enjoyed great weather until yesterday (1/16) and got rain on and off all day. Repeat of same today but sun out now. Agreed, crazy weather. One added note, calmest water has been in many years, at least here in Little Bay.

Never rained in Simpson Bay today (yesterday for 30 minutes) but it looked like it had potential. Cancelled our Happy Bay trip and went (gulp) to Sunset Beach (five ships in). It was as expected but still interesting and had conversations with visitors from many different countries..and...of course..15 minutes after we arrived the sun came out with a vengeance.

Note: if you are parking in the main lot and expect validation for free parking do not go to the bar by the beach..only the bar inside validates
