The upstairs restaurant at "The Sugar Mill" reopened tonight (Nov 4) with a limited, but still great menu. Bernard made his killer French onion soup which was all we needed! It will be open seven days a weeks and the beachfront "Tramonti" will be open lunch and dinner Wed through Sat with brunch till 4.30 Sundays..our West End/North Shore is coming back!

Excellent news! We made reservations for our last night based on your advice! I’ll report back afterwards, thank you.

Have not been to the SM since 2005, is/was there a restaurant on the ground floor? I remember having cocktails but don’t remember if the restaurant was up or down or both?
And I thought I had read the hotel reopened quickly with minimal or at least relatively little damage?
Thanks!

In 2005 the beach front restaurant called "Islands" would only have been open 12 to 2 for lunch ( waste of a great location). You probably were upstairs. The way it is now..Dennis and Mary have totally expanded the beach bar and restaurant and it is open Wed to Sat for lunch and dinner and 10.30 to 4.30 Sundays for ( great) brunch. The upstairs has been completely redone for the second time and is gorgeous and open 7 nights a week for dinner. Like many of us Dennis and Mary did not realise the extent of the damage from Irma and, being perfectionists, would not reopen til everything was right..which it is now and better than ever.Yes ..we love the place and will be back tonight!

Didn't a couple called Jeff and Jinx Morgan own that place. Apparently they sold it. Were they the original owners? Met them way back.
