After being rerouted to St. Lucia last year, we DESPERATELY miss St. Martin. Don't think we'll go to another British island for a long, long time. We enjoy being "free" (or partially free at least- haha).. Not certain what to expect when we land. We hope our favorite restaurant/bars will be in operation:
Moulin Fou, Buccaneer, Sunset BG, Pizza Galley, Izi, Pizza Pasta, Driftwood, Bavaria, Red Piano to name a few. Heard Pizza Pasta is done forever. Looking for some good acoustic guitar entertainment (hopefully on the beach).
Looking forward to seeing our friends too. Ye Ha.

But now I think about the good times, down in the Caribbean sunshine...

SXM will be happy to have one of its greatest visitors back. Be sure to try Altro restaurant in Porto Cupecoy. One of the best, least expensive meals we had last March.

As far as I know, Pizza Galley is gone also. The others are there. Enjoy your trip!

We got here on the 22nd and Moulin Fou has been closed. We're being told they are on vacation, so don't know how long that is. There are no signs on the door nor anything on their website about it.

Another ‘pat’ chiming in here.

We also made the mistake of hoping that any other island could replace SXM - big mistake - and as nice as Antigua was, it just wasn’t Sint Maarten, where we really wanted to be. Returning soon and eagerly looking forward to whatever the island’s present state has to offer. The beaches are still the beaches we love as are the people, and there are a world of great eateries open now - all the rest is window-dressing. It’s eighteen months since we were there and I CAN’T WAIT!

Respectfully,

pat

And how is the Marina Royal? We enjoy the atmosphere but the lack of security made us feel uneasy at night. How is shopping in Marigot?

There was an article someone posted here a short time ago stating businesses were told to leave and that building were being demolished. Last March nothing was open there except La Main et Pate. Had a great lunch there. Heard a bakery was to open there soon.

Bakery is open, there are a couple of new restaurants open. Will you let you know next week, when we try them out. We were told la Main ala plate has new owners. Didn’t have a great experience on Monday but are going to give it another try. We were told that the new owners also bought Altro, but that the food and service are still great.

Vivian,

Just sent you a PM. Too many words and thoughts to post here and totally off topic to most readers........

We HAD a villa in Beacon Hill but could not secure it after Irma. So now we are renting in Terra Basse.
