Hello All. We are planning a trip back to SXM for a couple weeks in late January or early Feb. Again, a group of us are going, so I am trying to gather as much info post Irma as I can. We all really enjoyed Bon Apetite restaurant which was up by La Vista. I am almost sure I read that it was not open anymore? But,,did those people open somewhere else on the island? I may have that info wrong?? Also, we always going to "The church" on Monday nights. I believe the bar is called the Red Piano bar? It was close to La vista as well. Is it open?
We missed going last year so much, can't wait to come back.
Great news re Red Piano. Not so good re Bon apetit...We are coming in late January, early February, and I am a bit nervous about how the island is recovering and such. Not for us, but for our newbie friends who have never been. I am hoping that enough is open and happening so that they too can enjoy our favourite place! Thanks Elaine!!
SXMScubaman,,,thank you,,,I just happened to see that on Facebook of all places. His name is Anthony...he said he is open on Kim Sha Beach and told me it was a temporary location until he could find a more suitable permanent place. We will for sure give it a try, thanks for your input as well. curious...have you been there? We hope to arrive Jan 26/18,,,cannot wait to get back to the island. Will be quite different, I am sure. Our last visit was January 2017.
Was there for 3 weeks this last May. French side has a lot of work to be done. Nothing was being done at Orient except for a couple of small vendors on the south end. Since then Bikini has opened and 3 other of the larger ones are getting close. Pinel is pristeen and fully operational. Dutch side is looking good. Simpson Bay area is pretty much back to normal and by the time you get there it will be more so. Maho has a ways to go but some places are getting ready to reopen. Casino Royal is supposed to open end of this month and that will help a lot. Cheri's is gone with no plans to reopen.
Bon Appetit is now on Kim Sha beach next to Captain D. It’s owned by Andrew, one of the waiters from Bon Appetit. He’s not too happy with the location and is looking for a new spot.
